have to book? Or just wander up to the counter?

Someone on here recommended going there to get suggestions of perfumes to try in a similar vein to the perfume you already like.

I don't live in London but now have a weekend planned and really want to do this.

Not done this at Liberty, but if it's help with perfume you're after then I'd recommend Jo Malone on Sloane Street or Brook Street. They will find a fragrance that suits you. The staff are really friendly and not at all pushy.

Will go there too, thanks.

Am getting very excited. Posh hotel, and an afternoon shopping on my own before my husband gets down on a later train!

I know that at Liberty there is a le labo counter which is great. You can definitely just walk up there.

I don't think you need to book.

Difference between JM and Liberty is that Liberty has a range of fragrances by different companies.

If you have time and are near Victoria or Sloane Square, "Les Senteurs" are in Elizabeth Street, have a wide and eclectic stock, are lovely and (if the regular staff are in) very knowledgeable.

Liberty have a compact but well-stocked perfume room and also Le Labo and Frederic Malle just outside the perfume room.

They also have a regular staff who seem to know what they are selling.
