I am pregnant and can't help but think that this will be an ideal day to night dress this summer, especially as my legs get less sightly ... damn you, evil fluid retention of the knee

and I am sorely tempted by this as a post-baby wear.. my back is one of my best features, if not the best.. draws attention away from my mahoosive bum, doncha know

what do you think?

2 items OF clothing. Ugh.

MrsMattie · 16/05/2009 20:28

Second one is lovely.

I cant imagine many people (epsecially preggers people) looking good in the first one, sorry

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2009 20:28

I like the dress, not so sure about the top.

mazzystartled · 16/05/2009 20:29

love the dress, funky, understated, go anywhere do anything
HATE the top - too fashion victim

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 20:30

LTEC - You have fantastic taste. I love that top. Very nice indeed, but then I am a big fan of Anna Sui.

mrsmaidamess · 16/05/2009 20:30

I prefer the dress.

Not keen on top, also your body may change a lot during pregnancy and £93 is a lot to pay for something you may not wear for ages.

MrsMattie · 16/05/2009 20:31

But don't you think strapeless dresses only look good if you are super-skinny, with slender, toned upper arms and a small pert bust? Sorry...I do

shootfromthehip · 16/05/2009 20:33

Like the top, not keen on the frock. Sorry

LetThemEatCake · 16/05/2009 20:33

Mrs Mattie - really??? why?? not even tall people?? i am just shy of 5'11", not too chunky, have a nice pair of gold flats .. no? really??

Not too many of you keen on the top. Hmm.

Thanks Marthasmama!! I love Anna Sui too. I bought this last year which my husband HATES but I never get anything but compliments on it when I wear it. Hmph, what does he know

FigmentOfYourImagination · 16/05/2009 20:34

I like the first but not the second.

The first will look great if you are tall and willowy with toned shoulders and upper arms.

The second is too frilly

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2009 20:34

Have you seen her MrsMattie? Click to see LTEC's picture. I think her shoulders will pass, unless she is prone to putting on toones of all-over weight while pregnant.

LetThemEatCake · 16/05/2009 20:35

Sorry MrsM, just saw your 2nd post. I have NO boobs, slim arms and am a size 8-10 up top.. and as this is my 3rd baby, I can pretty confidently say that this stays the same in pregnancy ... so can I have the dress?
Please?

That pink dress looks like the sort of thing that looks much better on a person than just lying there...

EldonAve · 16/05/2009 21:16

Love the dress

Not keen on the top myself but if you love it buy it

macherie · 16/05/2009 21:49

Love the dress too, not the top though. Dress would look great with tanned limbs and your primark gold flats!

Jewelsandgems · 16/05/2009 21:50

Think the dress will look lovely if you are small of boob (otherwise, dresses like that kind of squish them together in a very unflattering manor) and also, you have to make sure the dress does not ride up at the front due to bump, because that could be annoying.

Top-wise, I am not sure about that one. LOVE that other one you linked to, that your husband hates.

LetThemEatCake · 16/05/2009 22:06

okay, well I am going to be sensible.

Can see that maxi having a place in a Gok-style 'capsule wardrobe', if one were to endeavour to create such a thing (personally, me, no. 24 pieces?? Over my dead body)

The top, while I really like it, frills, foof and all, is not that practical and would not get that much wear.

So I'll buy the dress while my-wardrobe are doing their free delivery special (I get quite a good discount there too) and then send it back if it's no good.

And speaking of being sensible - how is this. Took dd into town the other day for her measles jab (yes, we are doing them separately blah blah) and DELIBERATELY wore uncomfortable shoes so that I would not be keen to hang around. Docs is dangerously near Selfridges...

Pat on the back or what??!!

OP posts:
Clure · 16/05/2009 22:21

yes to the dress (nice with flats, nice arms) no to the top (too fussy imo)

LetThemEatCake · 16/05/2009 22:49

pretty much unanimous on the dress then

Except MrsMattie!! show yourself!!

OP posts:
MrsMcCluskey · 16/05/2009 22:51

Like the dress#dont like the top

MrsMattie · 17/05/2009 10:32

Just seen your pic. Yes, you can .

See, I wrongly assume that all MN-ers are lardy arses like me .

You are gorgeous, slender and can wear what you want my lovely. in fact, you do not need my style advice, ever!

purepurple · 17/05/2009 10:35

I love the dress and the top
If you like them, then go for it.
it's all about confidence and if you feel great then you will look great

BonsoirAnna · 17/05/2009 10:37

Love the grey dress

OllieWollieWoo · 17/05/2009 15:27

I like them both esp the top but hear what you say re not getting much wear. On the other hand, it is sooooo nice to have an item of clothing to focus on for when baby has arrived and bump has gone - def proved an incentive for me (who wore said top 3 weeks after DS2 but didnt allow for bf boobs and am slightly when I now look back at pics of me at the time!

LetThemEatCake · 17/05/2009 18:42

phew!!! got the last dress in stock. She who hesitates and all that...

and the last pair of these too Nothing glam but anything that claims to be high AND comfortable is okay by me in my pregnant state. Need a bit of elongation to balance out the increase in girth!!!!

No Anna Sui top for now

thanks for all your input.
