I know you love a challenge!

So...I am applying to train to be a church minister. Soon I am going for a 3 day interview. So, the big question is, what to wear, to represent myself as a potential church minister, and what clothes / accessories are going to give me the confidence I need?

Some facts:

I am 35.

I am size 12 - 14 (pear shaped)

I look rubbish in black (so why exactly am Iapplying to be a minister in the first place, eh??!!)

I 'had my colours done' a few years ago and was told I am an autumn - this does actually ring true.

I am not very good at walking in high heels.

I have around £100 to spend on clothes / accessories.

Thank you in adavance!

Sparkly boob tube with hot pants combo ruled out then...

No 'I am fun and wacky/Vicar of Dibley' waistcoats' is the only advice I can think of.

I have a lovely friend who is a minister. I shall pick his brains later about dress wear at interviews and get back to you.

Errr...yup. No waistcoats or boob tubes!

The advice I have been given is "smart casual".

I would say black trousers/skirt and a variety of nice pastel coloured shirts based on what our female vicar used to wear! I don't think I ever saw her in anything else...

I have no great ideas but good luck!

OK... my twopee worth..

Brown linen-mix wide trews
Assorted cream/orangey tops
Nice cardi
Cool wedges
A scarf or two
And lots of wide bangles to clink in a spiritual manner while waving hands

(Why don't you ask justabout, she is on other threads at the mo)

"To clink in a spiritual manner whilst waving hands" LOL!!!

Other than that your ensemble doesn't sound bad. Wedges could work.

Agreeing with sassy

Also add some chunky wooden type bead necklace?

Clockface · 14/05/2009 15:04

I saw some nice wooden beady necklaces in Sainsbos today. I was in an indecisive fuzz though and didn't buy any.

Ethically sourced accessories are probably a plus

"what a unique necklace!"
"oh thank you, it's from a women's co-operative in Ghana"
