i have a purple mabel which i love. there's an outlet shop in york too, but i have never found anything super reduced there. that mabel hobo in champagne is rather yum.

jemart · 19/05/2009 17:18

I just bought this one
Bargain or foolish mistake?

CHOOGIRL · 19/05/2009 20:07

They have 30% off all bags at mywardrobe.com and they stock Mulberry.

bettybeetroot · 19/05/2009 20:23

can anyone tell me how much cheaper bags are in the shepton mallet outlet? are they seconds?
Thanks

mummytoshrimps · 19/05/2009 20:28

I've had a thread going yesterday dithering about a Mulberry that I'd bought...and I sent it back today as it was too much money to be dithering! It was a Hoxton in chestnut congo leather. I now want a Somerset hobo or a Cher, but only snag is I need a lot more money!!!

jemart, if you fell in love with it then enjoy it! It's a lovely style and pretty colour.

jemart · 19/05/2009 22:08

Yes ruby, I like that one too, but the Phoebe always seems to go for about £100 more than the Tyler 2nd hand.
Agree the olive colour is fab, makes a change from brown but still understated and classic (at least this is my hope).

jemart · 19/05/2009 22:30

mummytoshrimps - I reckon the cher is nicer than the somerset, not least because its in the congo leather which you already went for in the bag that got sent back.
Also has nice retro chunky buckliness, looks really solid and reliable.

jemart · 19/05/2009 23:00

Just spotted a cher on ebay here
it is red though, do you dare?

I have the Mulberry Bayswater in oak. I bought it about 3-4 years ago and it was the most expensive bag I had ever bought, think I paid about 495 at the time. The first time I used it, I got caught in heavy rain and it marked dark freckles and slodges all over it - ruined. However, in a way, that stopped me being precious with it. I rubbed the marks out pretty much and over weeks, they blended in and disappeared and I use and abuse the bag very comfortably now - it's my knockabout bag and imho, I think it looks all the better for being a bit distressed and it has darkened a bit all over, over the years. I give it a wipe with a leather wipe every now and again but other than that, I simply use it, hard. It has more than paid off in terms of cost per wear and has many many more years of life left in it. It doesn't seem to have dated, such a classic tote shape and the stitching etc is still perfect - guess that's the quality that sets the high price to some extent. I was in a state when I first bought it - the cost! and then spoiling it in the rain, but I am completey relaxed with it now and am not interested in other bags for everyday casual use - this one works well for most situations. Good luck with your decision. Love Mulberry bags. Mine turned out to be a great investment.

hifi · 20/05/2009 11:04

sample sale

jemart · 21/05/2009 18:47

I desperately want a tooled Bayswater! I have the Prairie, love the tooled detailing but the bag is tiny, is like playing tetris trying to fit in phone, purse and keys.

cornsilk · 21/05/2009 18:51

Where is the sample sale held or is it online?

joliejolie · 22/05/2009 14:47

I just bought a new season Mitzy hobo bag in a promotion.
There are loads about this weekend...even Harvey Nic's has a 20% off deal going.
£395 is still way too much to spend on a bag, but I will count it towards my b-day and anniversary! I am very careful with my bags and don't spend much on myself usually.

Itsgottabebags · 03/06/2012 14:44

All the talk of the Roxanne bag caused me to find this thread. Maybe we coul have a mulbeery thread?

Charliefox · 03/06/2012 15:05

Get a flight to Bangkok and get a few fakes. Keep the ones you want and sell the others, thus negating the cost of the flight. Simples. did I really just say that out loud

uggmum · 03/06/2012 15:13

I have 3 mulberry bags and I love them.
I have a Mitzy, an Alexa Hobo and a normal Alexa.
Lovely soft leather. I could stroke them.

Hopefullyrecovering · 03/06/2012 15:17

I just bought a Bayswater.

I do love it but I am very conscious about it. I mean bags for me are stuffed with useless paraphernalia and get slung around everywhere. So now, when I go out, my bag has to have its own chair. It gets sprayed once a week. All my pens are in a pencil case lest they leak. It's all a teensy bit precious.

BellaOfTheBalls · 03/06/2012 15:20

My cousin has the most gorgeous red patent Mulberry. She decided she could either have designer handbags or children. No prizes what she picked.

I NEEEEEED an Alexa bag!
