'Body wave perm' - yay or nay?

I have something of a moon face and am coming to the conclusion that a bit of wave/curl in my shoulder-length brown hair is the most flattering style for me.

At the mo I am scrunching it with mousse, a la 1988, and although I like how it looks I hate the crunchy effect!

Shall I, oh MN style gurus, have a PERM? I've googled how to get loose waves rather than frizzy curls and apprently I need to ask for a body wave perm on rollers of min. 2" diameter. Anyone had one?

My main dilly-dally is whether I'll end up with frizz, or conversely, pay a bomb for something hardly noticeable.

So, I'll put it to the vote - you decide!

I thought it was a thread about perming pubes, leg and underarm hair

Ha ha Fluffy - were you relieved or disapointed to find it wasn't?

relieved I sat here thinking whether they make hair curly things small enough for leg hair!!

So come on then Fluffy, shall I go for curly head hair in contrast to my straight leg hair?

I like curly. My hair is as flat as a pancake, I've always wanted way hair. Go for curls, if you don't like it you can get it changed back.

Should be WAVY hair, not way Doh!

I had one recently and it was a mistake! My hair more went in a frizzy wave unless i tamed the curls with mousse so still had the crispy effect. Then my hair started to snap off at the crown leaving me with a Mr Majeka tuft! I had it chopped in an Amelie bob and that actually really suits me with a wave in. My hair is usually ramrod straight.
Perms damage your hair too- mine used to be so shiny and silky. And worst bit was it cost me £140!! (I had elbow length hair and was too scared to go to the old lady salon and get it for £30 so went to a "reputable" salon but I have seen great results from SiL's hair at £30 salon so regret paying that much and having it done in general.

Just to warn you.

oh and they didnt do a body wave perm as they didn't have perming rods of that diameter as perms are "not fashionable" at the mo so no-one has ones really- they also said big wave perms drop very quickly so with a month it may look like i never had a perm then it would have been a waste of time and money.

Thank you Thandeka - only just seen this - hmmm, cautious approach....
