effective spot creams?

browntrout · 08/05/2009 20:39

Over the past year I have had spots breaking out on the same part of my face every few weeks. I have tried some over the counter creams (savlon, germolene (sp?) etc) and teatree oil but nothing seems to have much effect. Can anyone recommend anything? I am prepared to throw money at the problem (within reason) if it is something that really works.

thanks

TCP. Cheap and dries out all spots, i hardly get them but when i get them they are always central. TCP at night spot, dried out my morning. Stinks though so not for day use.

I use a cotton bud to apply just to the area of the spot as it can be harsh on non break out areas.

thanks. Actually I dont mind the smell of TCP and I love Dettol!

What sort of spots do you get browntrout?

I've been getting some occasional whoppers but they never seem to come to a head, they're just massive, red, painful and take ages to go (and I'm no teenager either -I'm past 40!!)

quinoderm is excellent

They sound like yours Norbert. It's the very edge of one side of my nose and the cheek next to it. Just red and sore but not with a head. Have had them off and on since having DD1 2 years ago but more frequently recently. I am 14 weeks pregnant again and was hoping that suddenly my skin would bloom but no bloody chance. Another big red lump again today!

Will have a look at Quinoderm, thanks

I tend to get the painful ones and find Freederm gel is very good.

Acriflex. It's a burns cream but BRILLIANT on spots - also recommended for the same thing by the Times beauty editor yonks ago. I was a bit miffed because it's been used as a magic cream for everything (cuts, grazes, sore noses from tissue chafing, sunburn etc) in our family for years and I felt I'd discovered it first!

i just use sudocream

browntrout · 10/05/2009 19:24

thanks for all the suggestions - plenty of things to try now anyway

Isn't the Liz Earle spot stuff meant to be good - and so is the Dermalogica one? Sure I read that recently in some article about effective spot treatments! HTH
