this one

It's lovely, but nothing super-special (certainly not special enough to warrant the original price) but I bought it because I get a bit bored with the denim mini/ tank top combo in summer and thought this would look good with a white tee and silver flats for slightly smarter days.

Problem is I am 20 weeks pregnant so can't try it on now that it has arrived (well, I tried, but it only did up if I wore it up high, which made it super short LOL) and won't really be able to wear it until next spring anyway.

It's not a shape I usually wear and I'm not 100% sure that it will flatter - I am somewhat broad in the hips, as you may be able to tell from prof. pic. Is this shape totally wrong for me?

Any advice/ opinions would be great. Thanks.

I would return it esp at that price and not being able to wear it for another year

moffat · 07/05/2009 18:30

I love it - looks really elegant

LetThemEatCake · 07/05/2009 18:36

I am a sucker for a few sequins, I must say.

But do you think that pleaty look will work on my pear-shape, or will I just look huge?

I would send it back for 2 reasons, you can't wear it until next spring and the length could date it.

But on the other hand you could hang it in your wardrobe and use it as your get slim again skirt!

not much help am I

yappybluedog · 07/05/2009 18:46

it's lovely, keep it

I remember you from another thread, someone said that you looked like someone, but you don't (you being all gorgeous and all), but can't remember who that someone was

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 07/05/2009 18:50

I think it is a really lovely skirt and a classic twist on the 50's shape which IMO will never date or go out of style

You will obviously gets loads of wear out of it because it is a true dress up or down piece.

I am pear shape and wear this shape of skirt. You need to balance it out with your top half. So: if you are wearing a vest top make sure it isn't one with thin straps. Wear short or cap-sleeved t-shirts/tops with it to balance out your shoulders. A little cardigan over a vest top would also work well. Wearing a darker colour on top would also help balance it (eg navy or hot pink)

Keep it

ok, thanks ladies - will keep it.

It is also a size bigger than my usual non-preg size so will be nice to have something that I can fit into before I am totally back to normal, if you get me.

yappy - yes - Cilla Black. It was Cilla Black!!!!!!

have also been likened to Sonia from East Enders (natalie Cassidy? is that it?) and Carol Vorderman. So clearly I am a true stunner

I'd return it purely because every woman and her dog is wearing those skirts right now and I cannot stand looking like every other fecker!

Just checked out you profile (sorry) and yes, keep it, it'd look lovely on you.

LetThemEatCake · 07/05/2009 19:36

I've removed it from the tissue paper and returned it to the wardrobe.

Thanks for that.
