Any hairdressers around? Is 'Sun-In' really bad for your hair?

?

I used to use it as a teen and remember my mother always telling me it would ruin my hair - cant remember it doing so tbh but then again I'm a bottle-blonde now anyway so probably wouldnt notice if it had

I'm not a hairdresser but I had a conversation with my hairdresser not long ago about sun-in and she said it was AWFUL AWFUL stuff. Really dreadful and should be avoided at all costs.

It REALLY damages your hair.

Ah thanks HS, I guessed as much. Didn't know whether it was just my mother exaggerating the truth in order to stop me using IYSWIM!

Are there any products that will naturally enhance hair lightening in the sun? Does lemon juice work do you think?

Bloody hell is Sun-In still around???

Thought I'd disappeared back in time to 1985 there

I managed to turn my hair a tasteful shade of orange using it! I have a feeling the condition left something to be desired as well...

squeaver yes! DD happened to come across it in the chemist and now has her heart set on blonde streaks. Her hair goes quite light in the sun anyway so I dont mind her putting something on to enhance the blonde but want something which wont wreck her hair IYSWIM.

drowninginclutter yes iirc it took a bit of practice to get it even aswell!

Is that still around? I used it a tiny bit when I was about 14 and was also told off by my mother, who said it'd turn green and fall out! it didn't, but probably because I was too much of a wuss to use a lot.
