If I were to buy a dress from Monsoon & then ebay it once I've worn it...

Would I get a decent price back for it?

I'll only be wearing it for a matter of hours and then it'll be back in the wardrobe for forever more!

I'm not much of a dress wearer and would prefer to sell it on after.

Do these dresses go for a good amount and will I get the majority of my money back, d'ya think??

I've got my eye on either this one, this one or this one

Cheers, fashion peeps!

You could do that or you could buy something that you will wear again. It seems a shame to only wear something once.

LastOrders · 04/05/2009 23:46

True, but I'm just not a dress wearer, and I'm also on a massive weight loss diet so hoping I won't fit into it by the summer anyway!!

Ahh. I like the one in the middle.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 04/05/2009 23:52

What size would you get?

You might find a taker here

hobbgoblin · 04/05/2009 23:54

You could always keep the labels in...

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/05/2009 23:55

you'll probably get 1/2 to 3/4 of your money back.

FrankMustard · 04/05/2009 23:56

You wouldn't get much for it on e-bay TBH.
I had a beautiful Laura Ashley dress that I wore once and although it was over £100 new (I was bought it as a bridesmaid dress), I only got a fiver for it on e-bay and, trawling through the similar dresses by major names like Laura Ashley, Monsoon etc., that was about right for what they went for.
Might be better off trying to sell it to a dress agency locally.

In that case I'll hunt around for something a bit cheaper. (Any help in pointing me in the right direction of nice dresses at half the price gratefully received!)

I'd hate to buy a lovely dress and then have it sit in the wardrobe for ever more!

BALD - it wouldn't be a lovely petite size if that answers your question!

try one of the designer outlet villages if you're near one of those - that way you get the dress without the price tag!
Or if you're near a city, have a look at the sample rails in the designer stores as they sometimes have things massively reduced in price

Why not buy a dress from ebay? If you do that, wear it once, and then re-ebay it, you stand a good chance of making your money back (or very nearly).

LastOrders · 05/05/2009 00:37

P&L - I'm not very ebay savvy. What if it doesn't fit when if I bought one off of there?

I would'nt be able to return ot would I?

No, but if you stick to a known brand (e.g. Monsoon, given that we started there) and know that a size X in whatever-brand-it-is pretty much always fits you then you'd be on safe ground. Or you could just re-ebay it if it didn't fit, and might even come out ahead.

Will pop down town and try a few items on then I'll know my size. Will have a scout at the ebayed Monsoon dresses.

Cheers you guys!!
