Debenhams - St George stuff, also Red Herring and John Rocha

I have a v slender 9 yr old

Wallace · 04/05/2009 19:01

Maybe won't find anything smart enough there but I find Primark boys trousers are really skinny fitting.

brimfull · 04/05/2009 19:02

oh never thought of debenhams

primark good idea as well

H&M have always been good for DS, as have M&S when they specifically say slim-fit. Vertbaudet is another good one for skinny boys, but beware as they are French sizes so you will probably need the next size up from the one you usually get. H&M is the opposite as it's sized for tall Scandinavian kids, DS is usually in the size below his age.

Drusilla · 04/05/2009 19:03

Also Redoute/Vertbaudet have many styles where you can choose slim/standard/stocky fitting.

BrendaAndEddie · 04/05/2009 19:04

next

NOT gap
NOT marks

bran · 04/05/2009 19:05

I buy Pumpkin Patch for DS as well, they have adjustable waists and sometimes have specific slim-fit, especially in jeans.

brimfull · 04/05/2009 19:05

had a look in next

only non jeans were linen which I don't wnat

Boden - slim fit jean? They have them in stone and they look quite smart. The sailing trousers might be ok too. My ds1 is very skinny and the trousers are ok for him from here.

popsycal · 04/05/2009 19:26

the m and s ones were slim fitting £5
he normally wear next jeans with adjustable waist and they are a similar fit

popsycal · 04/05/2009 19:27

these are m ans s ones www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B0014T7KI6/sr=1-3/qid=1241461620/ref=sr_1_3/279-2186084-7191065?i e=UTF8&node=&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=n%3A46435031%2Cp_10%3ABlack&page=1

crockydoodle · 04/05/2009 19:42

I have 3 ds, 2 of which are skinny and have always found Next to be the best fitting, although, looking at the directory, can't see any chinos.

popsycal · 04/05/2009 19:49

those marksy ones are suimilar fit to next basic jeans imo

VinoEsmeralda · 04/05/2009 19:53

Try the french/european brands such as petit bateau, Ikks, Mexx and Vingino.

Even Next is to big on both my DC also because they have no curves, the adjustable waistband doesnt do anything other then irritate their waist

AnyFucker · 04/05/2009 19:55

h and m

no question

brimfull · 04/05/2009 20:13

those m&s ones don't have adjustable waist though

next are alwasy too big for his bum

he's quite normal looking though honestly

will try h&m as he has jeans form them that fit

then the frenchy ones

thanks all

btw he needs them for golf course ..pmsl

I find Matalan trousers have the perfect proportions for my skinny boys.

MollieO · 04/05/2009 21:28

I have the same problem. Height wise ds (nearly 5) is the size of a 6-7 yr old but can still fit into age 2 shorts.

Boden - make sure they have an adjustable waistband. John Lewis (online) had some lovely chinos last year so I assume they will be doing them at some stage this year.

Ikks and Ollie Jnr are good too.

Gap are doing a tie up with ASOS starting in August. I struggle with the strap line 'Gap for kids....made by kids' although I think they are improving.

mooseloose · 04/05/2009 21:39

my ds is 14 and a human bean pole. He is 5 foot 10 now, and very slim. the only place i can get scool trousers to fit is matalan. they have long slim legs with a pull in button waist thing.

Previously BHs were best. BHS also do a flipside range for boys, and the jeans (trendy and casual) fitted from there nicely, although now thye legs aren't long enough!
