does this type of dress have a particular name?

you see names of dress all the time, you know, like prom dress, tea dress, shift dress.

i like the top part of this dress, thick enought to wear a decent bra, crossover, nipped in at the waist
[but wrong length for me as i have muscular calves]
but does the style of dress have a particular name?

If you look at the rest of the evening dresses on the Monsoon site, there are a few that are extremely similar to the one you have linked to, so I guess they think it's an evening dress.
I would have called it a cocktail dress rather than an evening dress, but I'm old fashioned.
