tights.

I have lotsa lovely skirts/dresses - peep toes shoes, too.

It's not exactly boiling hot, so could I get away with wearing dress/tights/peep toes combo?

Thanks for any repsonses.

Nay, nay and thrice nay!

mankyscotslass · 30/04/2009 12:42

How do I say this?

NO!!

KnitterInTheNW · 30/04/2009 12:43

Have I seen toe-less tights somewhere? Would they be a complete no-no too?

Wuxiapian · 30/04/2009 12:47

Good question, Knitter.

But, wouldn't chopped-off-leg-at-ankle be worse??

Kinda ruins the fluidity, I'd have thought.

Correct me, peeps, if I'm worng!

I think they have kind of a thing that goes between your big toe and the one next to it, like flip flops do (IYSWIM!) to keep them pulled down onto your feet. I've never worn them but someone I used to work for did, and they looked fine with dresses and skirts and peep toe shoes.

KnitterInTheNW · 30/04/2009 13:10

these are what I mean. If you click on 'other views' there's a pic of what I'm talking about.

EldonAve · 30/04/2009 13:53

no
whoever deemed tights and open toed shoes to be okay is very very wrong

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 30/04/2009 13:54

I think it's fine with crochet or fishnet tights.

claricebeansmum · 30/04/2009 13:57

No
It is very wrong in so many ways
Looks shocking
And if it rains...

Step away from the toeless tights -work of the devil.

Ever unsure about style - ask yourself "Would Jackie O or Audrey H?"

NO.

KnitterInTheNW · 30/04/2009 14:00

lol... I was just suggesting that's all! I clearly have no idea anyway, am still in maternity jeans 13 months after DS was born. They're masses too big but can't afford or find any that fit! Ah well.

LetThemEatCake · 30/04/2009 14:29

It can be done but it's tricky ... depends on the whole outfit. Black peep toes with electric blue or vivid purple tights, for instance, can look fab. But the peep must be small, if you get me. Literally a peep, nothing that could be mistaken for an open toe

am I making sense?

Wuxiapian · 30/04/2009 14:39

Hmmm.

Contemplating those bizarre tights, Knitter...

LTEC, my shoes are peep (2) toes.

TDWP, I would indeed be wearing fishnets.

So. I'm still confused. It don't take much.

KnitterInTheNW · 30/04/2009 15:41

I reckon (if I've got this right) you could get away with bizarre tights with fishnets over the top. Is that what you mean? Then fishnets would disguise tights clad legs and toes would just look like you were wearing fishnets. Is that what you mean? I'd wear that! (mind you in my indie chick teenage years I used to wear stripey coloured tights with fishnets over, with patchwork dresses and DMs. So probably don't listen to me!)

mosschops30 · 30/04/2009 15:43

dear god no!

KnitterInTheNW · 30/04/2009 15:46

could you explain the awfulness please? I really don't see it.

angelene · 30/04/2009 15:50

I think you could wear coloured tights and peep toes, if coloured tights are your thing.

Not sure if the rules are the same in reverse - i.e. black opaques and coloured peep toe heels

hoxtonchick · 30/04/2009 16:17

leggings

austinsmam · 30/04/2009 16:34

Im sure fishnets are fine, have worn them myself

Wuxiapian · 30/04/2009 16:51

Knitter, I think tights on top of tights might be just a tad constricting.

No.

Thinking black or brown fishnets and green peep toe.

Yay?

I have some green closed toe mary janes, too, just in case, I suppose.

OP posts:
angelene · 30/04/2009 17:15

When I wear fishnets I always wear sheer tights underneath, it's a dancer's tip and it a) is much more comfortable and b) makes my legs look less pasty.

SusieDerkins · 30/04/2009 17:16

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Wuxiapian · 01/05/2009 12:06

So, the general consensus is no!

I think I'm gonna be very brave and go for it.

I got black, brown and nude fishnets to wear with black peep, green peep and green closed toe.

Or should I not?...

Well unless you are one of those grannies that sit on the bus with their legs open then nothing you do matters with regards to footwear!

missblythe · 01/05/2009 12:17

Fishnets are fine
