French manicures on toes ... yes or no ?

Reading the thread about how snobby are you, someone mentioned that they hated a french manicure on the toes.

Can this be true ... surely not ??!

Am I making a style faux -pas by having on my fingers and toes ?

My nails are shortish and natural, and no acrylic involved which I could understand might be seen as a bit ..... naff !

OK on short nails, pornstar-esque on long. All in my humble opinion of course.

I like them, and, do have my fingers french manicured.

My finger nails are quite short so you can't see lots of the white tipping.

I think it looks lovely especially wearing sandals etc. Better than chipped nailpolish or no polish at all in my opinion.

I would recommend the virgin vie french manicure set topped with Sally Hensen teflon coating, it gives it a nice shine whilst strengthening the nails.

It looks ok, I have had it done, but I prefer a really dark colour

Galava · 29/04/2009 12:04

Yes, Ruby I agree that looks really nice ... but doesnt that mean you have to change the polish when your outfit doesnt match ?

I think I'll stick with the lazy option for now ... a french manicure goes with everything.

I wouldn't stop having your toes french maicured bacuse of another thread. You like it, you do. I think any well kept toes, french manicure, bright pink or blue with glitter, etc is better than unkempt feet. I'm sporting bright pink toes with open toe green shoes today. I like the colour clash and don't give a flying fig what others may think.

spiderinthebath · 29/04/2009 14:05

Anything goes but personally a good dark red toenail is always a winner with me!

JRocks · 29/04/2009 15:18

I prefer solid colour on toes, no tips. It kind of looks like they are too long when you have the white tips...I'm a bit funny about toenails though so you might want to ignore me

stripeypineapple has it right - do what you like

muggglewump · 29/04/2009 15:31

I agree with JRocks, it looks like too long toenails to me to have a french manicure. I like it on fingernails though so long as they are not too long.

I do have quite long finger nails (natural) so I just go for a really pale pink, not to colour but to make them an even colour and then clear over that.

Rexy · 29/04/2009 15:34

I had a French manicure on my toes for my wedding and it honestly just looks like your toe nails are too long and need clipping . I prefer dark midnight blue .

Dont usually do my finger nails though due to time and kids etc.
