What's the best type of sports bra on the market?

Hiya, hope someone can help me & my poor aching boobs!!!!

I desperately need a sports bra..one where the straps don't fall down over my shoulders that I have to spend half the class hauling them up or having a loose boob.

I am a 36FF so would perhaps need something underwired? (that;'s if you actually get them with underwire in them) My favourite brand of bra is Freya as they always fit perfectly!

I did see a Freya one on Figleaves, but was wondering if anyone has any experience of them & could perhaps recommend a good one?

I (and my breasts) would be hugely grateful

Shock Absorbers are fantastic.

MN is unanimous on this.

BeckhamSpice · 28/04/2009 23:17

That Freya looks like it could give the Shock a run for its money tho.

JRocks · 29/04/2009 09:46

I'll second shock absorbers. You can often get them in TK Maxx slightly cheaper too.

JustCallMeGoat · 29/04/2009 09:52

shock absorbers are good and tk max is excellent for picking them up on teh cheap.

i wear this baby for running and it is the best.

BrendaAndEddie · 29/04/2009 10:33

shock absorbers are good BUT they do give you 1950s tits

SusieDerkins · 29/04/2009 10:45

Shock absorbers. Nothing comes close ime.

M&S sports bras are complete and utter rubbish. I bought one extra high impact for c/d+ cup and it was awful. It gave me a mono boob and zero support. I'm surprised my boobs didn't end up at my knees. The other one I tried from M&S was an underwired thing - again rubbish. Not nearly enough support (even though it was meant to be high impact) and possibly the most uncomfortable bra in the world.

BrendaAndEddie · 29/04/2009 10:46

i had a royce one that LOOKEd better but was shit

spicemonster · 29/04/2009 10:48

Enell are the very best for big boobs - much better than Shock Absorbers IMO but they look hideous and aren't cheap. They are the only bra ever that has kept my boobs in check while running (DD cups)

You can get them from LessBounce

norktasticninja · 29/04/2009 10:49

Yet another vote for shock absorbers

fishie · 29/04/2009 10:50

freya is as good as shock absorber (i am 34e and have a 36dd). i find the fit is better for me than the SA.

it has one ghastly design fault though, there is not enough material underneath the first hook so it rubs holes in your skin. second hook is fine no problem, so it was fortunate i got a slightly different size.

Thanks RubyrrrRodent - which one of the two on the site you linked to is the most supportive - is it the max one? Need something seriously supportive if I am going to start jogging!

glasjam · 29/04/2009 11:01

..just had a closer look and it looks like the sizes they have available are quite limited - nothing in mine anyway.

agree - enell bra from lessbounce is the best.

bran · 29/04/2009 11:18

Enell is very good for keeping everything still, it is a major operation to get it on and off though, I feel like I've already done a warm up by the time I've wrestled my E-cup boobs into it.

My favourite is my Anita front fastening bra because the straps are easy to adjust once it's on. But I don't use it for very bouncy exercise like aerobics, and it looks as though it only goes up to an E cup anyway.

Queenoftheharpies · 29/04/2009 11:20

I like the Dans-Ez Minimum Bounce Bra 2. Dead comfy, they wash beautifully and last forever.

I've had mine for about 5 years and they're still going.

AllwaysDoingSomething · 29/04/2009 13:45

I second shock absorber bras. Have a few on the go and there is less bounce with them than other sports bras. I'm waiting the arrival of the Enell one a few posts up. Have read that that is the ultimate ?hold ?em down' bra for runners. The trick I think is to have more than one bra and rotate their use, thus prolonging their support.

Thanks so much!!

Will have a browse later on when dh goes to work! I've just done an hour on the spin bike & lost count of the number of times I had to pull my bra straps up as my boos are bouncing all over the place!!

You lot are great!

Oh, two more recommendations: I also have the triumph tri-action and it's great if you are large of nork. My BF (also large of nork) swears by sportjock - they come in lovely colours as well but are not all that easy to find in the shops.

I have to admit I've never really got on with the shock absorber ones - the cups just aren't the right shape.
