Are skin coloured tights ever a good thing?

I am going to a wedding tomorrow and will be wearing this (I think!) picture here.

I have pasty legs and also it's probably going to be raining/cold.

Can I wear black tights or is that just silly? My work mate almost died when I suggested I might and says I MUST wear skin coloured tights. The thought makes me feel a bit ill.

What is best?

ssshhh she was bonkers but is universally acknowledged as a superhead

picklesmama · 27/04/2009 21:29

Tights/holdups fine, except with sandals. "Sandal toe" - big misnomer in my book.

RaspberryBlower · 27/04/2009 21:35

Do the shoes have toes? If so, put the sheer tights on and that will be fine. Both the dresses are lovely, but especially the first one.

5ft 5 and 10 stone is definitely not fat!!

shhhh · 27/04/2009 21:38

So what if you wear your cardi with the dress..?! as long as it looks nice, noone will notice if its kept on all night or even untill you are intoxicated enough not to give a sh1t lol!

You will look fab, think it and it will happen .

ts&p...defo bonkers by the sound of it.!

beanieb · 27/04/2009 21:43

the shoes have a slight peep toe ! OK - I am not fat but my belly is!

LOL @ sandal toe!

Have you looked in M&S? They do 7 Denier tights in 'nude' - they really are 'barely there' - they just make my legs look a wee bit more respectable, and even toned, for the office.

Hope you have fun (and 5'5" and 10st is absolutely not fat!)

janeite · 27/04/2009 22:05

The first dress, flesh coloured tights: you'll look lovely. Have a great time!

Bare legs at an interview is a total no-no I would think, non?

FabulousBakerGirl · 27/04/2009 22:09

The dress is lovely.

Red tights?

7denier black ones?

BecauseIveSnuffedIt · 27/04/2009 22:20

I bought some of these and they were lovely.

A very pale colour, just added a bit of colour to my luminous blue legs! 7 denier look was really good too, and they felt nice on. (I hate wearing tights so this was an extra bonus)

peanutbrittle · 27/04/2009 22:31

that first dress will disguise any tummy you have just as well methinks. bonus that your partner likes it too

though I'm also fond of the second one I must say - it has a lovely retro charm

10st and 5'5" sounds fab - I've just gotten down to 10 st and I am just over your height and I think I look brill [preen] so you must too

you'd be surprised how heavy people are - a friend of mine who I always thought was not a bit heavy recently told me she is 11 and a hlaf stone, she's out height and always looks great...weight is a madness if you ask me

KristinaM · 27/04/2009 22:48

if you are 39 then your weight sounds perfect. i think that trying to be skinny in your ( nearly) 40s is very ageing

remember you need to choose between your face and your arse rear

beanieb · 27/04/2009 23:01

Thanks everyone. I have plastered my legs and arms with 'beauty body lotion' and am going to risk bare legs and the dress. I think! Have packed the other and will just make a decision when I am there. Driving down tomorrow and have an hour to get ready at the B&B.

Hopefully I have had my tizz and I will be fine tomorrow

BrendaAndEddie · 28/04/2009 15:56

beanieb · 30/04/2009 12:56

Just updating really, I wore the green one and no tights. The sun came out and all was good

peanutbrittle · 30/04/2009 13:02
