I tried one on in Mothercare yesterday and it was the most the useless bra ever despite claiming to be firm support. I'm a 36GG usually but didn't manage to bf DD so not sure what size I'll need exactly.
I've had a look on the Bravissimo website but don't want to order something that won't work because I'm booked in for a section in 16 days. The brand I usually buy from there don't seem to make maternity or nursing bras so I have to confess I've been wearing my normal underwired bras throughout this pregnancy.
Heeeeeeeeeeelp!

I don't find bravissimo very supportive.
I am 36K and buy my feeding bras through NCT sales. Underwired bras especially when not 100% confident on fitting (which is likely when lots of change is going on) can increase your risk of blocked milk ducts and mastitis which is why they aren't really recommended. You probably already know that but I'm mentioning it just incase.
I suggest you post on the feeding thread and you'll get lots of help. Hope you've managed to line up some good bf support.

Hot Milk are amazing, but I think their biggest is a G

LetThemEatCake · 25/04/2009 10:08

www.amoralia.com are supposed to be good

SJisontheway · 25/04/2009 10:11

The Anita underwire bra is truly amazing. I know underwire isn't recomended but I think it's important for a good shape when large. I would recomend getting some cheap ones for now and once things have settled get yourself fitted for an Anita bra. Once you have the right size I think the risk of blocked ducts is low. I have not had any problems. I spent years wearing awful mothercare / m&s nursing bras, but once I found the Anita bra there was really no going back. Do a search online maybe for stockists...

Badpups · 25/04/2009 14:31

Try Emily (www.emily-uk.com)- they've won awards for their nursing bras and go up to a J cup.

Bellebelle · 25/04/2009 20:29

I went up to a K cup when feeding DD2 (normally a 32D!) and found the best feeding bras from Royce which John Lewis sell. Not particularly lovely looking but amazing support, they really 'hoicked' them up.

First time around I had Elle Macpherson bras which were gorgeous but don't know if you can still get them.

Also think Hot Milk (bit eurgh at the name though) do lovely bras, bought 3 throughout my pregnancy but they all got discarded as I grew and grew and grew....

FlyingMonkey · 25/04/2009 20:42

I am currently 34G and bought two underwired Anita bras from www.nursingbra.co.uk (free p&p) as much cheaper than buying from Figleaves (although Figleaves were correct in advising that I would need to buy 34H to be the correct equivalent of 34G). The bras are ace and VERY supportive.

TigerFeet · 25/04/2009 20:46

I have Royce feeding bras in a 36J and 36K, baby not born yet but I needed non-underwired bras and thought I'd give them a try in the hope that they'd be OK for afterwards and I wouldn't have to shell out twice! They aren't very pretty but are supportive and comfortable.

I got them fom here

SchrodingersCat · 27/04/2009 12:50

I went and bought some bras from Leia yesterday (I am a 38G) and they had quite a big range of maternity bras there. Up to a K cup I think.

hairtwiddler · 27/04/2009 12:53

I was around a G pre-pregnancy and ended up in a 36K feeding bra. Royce are your best bet.
Try figleaves.com. You can return if they don't fit.
What do your boobs look like in your G cups? That sounds dodgy, but trying to establish where you might be bulging out etc!

JustAFoolToBelieve · 27/04/2009 15:48

I'll definitely try to head to a shop selling Royce and have a try on.
My boobs seem to look just the same as ever size wise, Hairtwiddler! Well, apart from my enormous nipples! DD couldn't latch on so didn't persevere with my useless M&S bras or keep hold of them and don't know where to start. Thanks very much for all the advice!

giveusabreak · 27/04/2009 15:59

Hi - if they ever do form Mumsnet subgroups then perhaps we could have Mumsnet Norktastics for the well-endowed . I went up to 36K and am till 32HH. The only bra which has ever worked thru 2 breastfeeding times was the NCT Mava. It is as boring as hell but it does offer decent support. Nothing else has ever offered enough support. As long as you are nice to it (handwash, or at least wash without fabric conditioner) then it does last a reasonable amount of time. It comes in an exciting range of colours........ nah, just kidding white, black and old lady beige but the shape is good under clothes. You can also buy little adapters which you can use to alter your own bras - if you have the time/inclination/skills. Sorry I don't have a link

hairtwiddler · 27/04/2009 16:26

Can't find the mava online, but does it look like this one?

giveusabreak · 27/04/2009 16:32

that's the one - maybe mava was its old name. btw i had a royce and thought the support was rubbish tbh

YesSirICanBoogie · 27/04/2009 18:10

Oops. I posted my last message at work and there's obviously another MN user who was logged on! Felt a bit schizophrenic suddenly being called a Fool!
Thanks again for all the advice!

They don't make them up to a G though. Makes me a bit cross actually - why am I not allowed to have an underwired bra when feeding when I can otherwise. I'd promise to make sure it was a good fit! I emailed bravissimo about the lack of choice actually... they gave me a waffling reply about lack of demand.
It doesn't help me to feel I'm in the minority

Ok, I'll give you an H MarlaSinger (with thanks for looking too) but sadly, I needed a K with DD and if ever breastfeeding again, will be back to the soft cup saggers.

YesSirICanBoogie · 28/04/2009 15:41

Marla, that bra looks good! If I manage to find DH's credit card I'll order one!

OP posts:
porcupine11 · 28/04/2009 16:19

bravissimo recommended a nursing bra called Freya and it's been fantastic, it's just as lifting as underwired (I'm wearing 34F). i know what you mean about Mothercare (& M&S for that matter - useless and crush your nipples)

ChairmumMiaow · 28/04/2009 16:31

I had given up nursing bras, but replaced them with structure cup wonderbra types from evans, which put rather too much tempting boob on display for DS!

Anyway, you've made me order one! I shall blame it on all of you when DH asks. I never thought I'd still be wearing nursing bras at 15mo! But it looks likely I will be for some time, so I might as well get a nice bra.
