Apologies if already done but linen type trousers - who has the best and not too expensive ones?

Actually don't want pure linen - a mix would be good and I don't really like those tie things round the waist.

Anyone bought some nice ones recently?

Thanks.

I bought a nice navy pare from Wallis last year. Don't know about the blend, but they were fairly high waisted and had nice button detail - they're back in the shops this year, but I only got one summer out them before they shrunk. (i did wear them to work so got a lot of wear).

Got a white pair from Monsoon last year too, only worn and washed a few times but still good for this summer.

yousaidit · 24/04/2009 21:12

next have gone cheapo and now do a linen mix for about £15? look at the directory on line?

southeastastra · 24/04/2009 21:13

yes from tesco £15 but they have the tie. but the cut is fab

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 24/04/2009 21:21

the Next ones are really nicely cut and feel lovely.

For the last few years I have got my black-for-work ones from Miss Selfridge for £20

Wash and wear well

Hear hear for the Tesco ones. I wore my black ones from last year today, and am going to pop in there at the weekend to see if they're doing them this year too .

ChippyMinton · 24/04/2009 21:49

Got some black ones in Next for about £20 - quite a formal cut, so good for work, with belt loops at hip level.

Boden had some lovely white ones in the sale for £20.50 from £69.00- got a pair and they are gorgeous, great quality and a bargain at that price.

Only a few sizes left now though. And actually, just been to Asda and was mightily impressed with their linen range. Definitely worth looking in there.

My favourites are White Stuff and Fat Face though. I like Next ones, but not the cheapy ones, they're a bit of a baggy fit on me.

duckyfuzz · 24/04/2009 21:56

I got some fenn wright manson ones half price at john lewis last week, they are lovely

MerlinsBeard · 24/04/2009 22:28

are the next ones normal next sizing? (ie i need the next size down really)

ChippyMinton · 24/04/2009 22:38

Probably - think I got a 10, and I can be 12 elsewhere.

MerlinsBeard · 24/04/2009 22:41

what do they go down to?

Got some from sainsbo last year in a 10 (my size at the time) and in between paying for them and gettting them home, they went HUGE, can fit down one leg now

frumpygrumpy · 24/04/2009 22:44

I find The White Company ones are great quality linen and you can take off the tie, leaving button and zip to hold them up. Not cheap but worth investing in as linen can be hauled out every summer and IMHO gets better with age.

drlove8 · 24/04/2009 22:58

got mine in primark for £7 ,and they didnt shrink when washed .mid waist ,loose fitting with button and tie detail and real pockets ! (cant stand fake pockets, they're just pointless)

BikeRunSki · 25/04/2009 16:15

I got soem good linen/modal mix ones from Next. Don;t really need ironing and don't get too worse for wear throughout the day. They have a proper zip and button, but also redundant and annoying tie thing. Coudl have done with smaller size though - bought my normal 14.

miche8 · 25/04/2009 16:39

Every year i always buy linen trousers from new look, they are a linen blend, they do wash well and do different leg lengths, my weight just yo-yos which and i need different sizes. I like the new look ones because they fit nicely in the bum and aren't too wide in the leg. I had a pair from next and the material was thicker but they were so baggy in the bum and far to wide in the leg, i felt huge in them, i usually love next clothing too.

shhhh · 25/04/2009 16:57

Mine are from M&S and are gorgeous. I have never bought or worn linen trousers before so this is my 1st time and must admit im quite happy with mine.
Lovely fit and just washed for the 1st time and they have still kept their shape length etc.
Think they were around £20.

Also bought a pair of cropped trousers from primark, had to have them taken up and cost me £6 but worn today and are lovely. A nice pink colour (although not washed yet so can't comment on that side..)

janeite · 25/04/2009 17:00

I'm quite petite and have really problems with linen trousers, as they are all too baggy on the bum and too wide of leg. I've had ones from Next and M&S in the past but neither of them fitted very well. I thought I might see if M&S now do any in their petites range.

shhhh · 25/04/2009 17:23

Im the same janeite (im 4ft 11) but find the m&s ones fine. They are a loose fit but I just assume they are meant to be like that..

higgle · 25/04/2009 17:36

M&S have various styles at £15 - all very nice.
