Tangle Tamer or Tangle Teezer? Which is best?

NorbertDentressangle · 22/04/2009 18:48

DD (9) has long, straight, quite fine hair. Its a nightmare for getting knots and tangles in and I'm fed up of the screams and tears when I brush it.

I've seen these brushes mentioned on here so googled but there are 2 (Tangle Teezer and Tangle Tamer) -any experience as to which is the best?

Thanks

We have the Tangle Tamer and it's fantastic!

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 22/04/2009 18:51

I haven't heard of the tangle tamer, but bought a tangle teezer recently for my dd and it is fantastic.

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 22/04/2009 18:52

pmsl, really should have refreshed before posting

drlove8 · 22/04/2009 19:10

tangle tamer is that the one with batteries? .i got the tangle teezzer and its amazing, have thick naturally curly hair, my dds all have long straight hair and it works on all of us.

shhhh · 22/04/2009 19:11

Tangle teezer is fab.
Bought for myself when I had hair extentions last yr BUT use it now on dd and ds. Easy to use and brushes through notted hair with no problem. .

TsarChasm · 22/04/2009 20:09

Bought a Tangle Tamer last week. I have a drawer full of brushes and tangle busting equipment so was a bit reluctant to fork out nearly 10 quid on another faddy thing. But by god it works! It actually does work.

And on wet hair, it's a dream. Combing through wet hair even with conditioner used to take ages with lots of pain.

Dd's love it to bits and every time I turn round hair is being brushed to squeals of delight. I may have to get another one.

Pawslikepaddington · 22/04/2009 20:10

Tangle teezer-we have both and tangle teezer much better.

MissisBoot · 22/04/2009 20:10

DD has the tangle teezer - it makes hairbrushing so much less stressful.

Never heard of the tangle tamer though...

TsarChasm · 22/04/2009 20:11

Oh hang on! Ooops - senior moment there (happens a lot lately) - mines a Tangle Teezer.

It's so good I don't even know what it is

NorbertDentressangle · 22/04/2009 21:03

Excellent! thanks all. It looks like it might have to be the Tangle Teezer then.

I don't suppose anyone knows of anywhere that sells it a bit cheaper than £10 ?

Up-date

Thanks to everyone who recommended the Tangle Teezer. It is fantastic! We have had no tears or arguements at hair brush time. It works great on wet hair too.

Thanks for recommending that website too Scorpion -good price and free next day delivery.

Is that the one that was on Dragon's Den?

CherryChoc · 28/04/2009 00:07

(Sorry hit post too soon)

And Deborah said "This is ridiculous, I have one of those in my stable for my horse, I might as well use that" - she was wrong - bloody brilliant idea to rebrand it for people! Not everyone has a stable and even if they did how many of us would think to use a product designed for horses on our own or DC's hair?

I think what I am saying in a long-winded manner is you could probably get one cheaper from a horse supplies shop - as long as you weren't too proud about it But then I suppose you'd also have to go in and ask about it which could be embarrassing!

NorbertDentressangle · 28/04/2009 08:32

Yes it was the one on Dragons Den.

You've probably got a point about the horse version being just as good (although would you like to go to your local tack suppliers and test the brushes out in the shop ? "DD come here a minute and lets try this one which is designed especially for tails" )

Funnily enough we have a stable (although its not seen a horse for about 50yrs so is very much brush-less!)

I bought the tangle teezer for my dd and it cut half an hour of our time every morning. dd's hair is long and curly and every-time we tried to brush it there was tears. The tangle tears was a gift from the angles we said. No more tears. A couple of weeks ago we lost the brush at swimming so I went out to but another to replace the lost one. I bought the tangle tamer, what a load of rubbish, back to tears and it only brushes the top layer of the hair, its still knotty. I am off to buy another tangle teezer at the weekend. The hot pink one again.

Sheil99 · 07/09/2010 13:01

I have had a tangle teezer for about 6 months now and I have to say I was sceptical before I had tried it. But it is brilliant. Dont know how I managed before on my 6 year old daughters fine hair- no more tears before school now! I bought her a magic flowerpot tangle teezer from their own website and she loves it for putting hair clips etc into.

Sheil99 · 07/09/2010 13:02

by the way I forgot to say I also tried the tangle tamer by denman and it just did not work

MmeLindt · 07/09/2010 13:05

We have a tangle teezer, after seeing them recommended on here and it is fab.

Works on doggies too. We have a Maltese Terrier and when her hair gets long it is impossible to comb.

We do have a separate one for the dog, in case you were wondering.
