That don't DROWN me or make me look like i am 10? (i can fit in the kids tops but they are often not long enough and even if they are-at 27 i am a tad too old for HSM)

I only wanted a long vest type top FGS

Have you tried Top Shop? They do a size 6 and I'm sure I've seen long vests in there. Warehouse as well? Miss Selfridge?

MerlinsBeard · 22/04/2009 17:13

hmm maybe that is where i am going wrong, we don't have a warehouse or miss selfridge but do have a topshop - i tend to avoid it as its over priced and far too fashionable

WIll have a look in there next time i am in town- thank you!

Have you tried New Look? They do size 6 in lots of things. I sympathise - I hate seeing something gorgeous that drowns me when I try it on, and realising you picked up the smallest size they do. And then everyone says, oh lucky you

MerlinsBeard · 22/04/2009 17:21

Yep, was in there today. Even trekked to the bigger one that is much better and has a "teen" section. All the styles seem to have reams of fabric that just looks odd on me or there will be a really nice shape top but the fabric is horrid(fussy me? noooooo)

I thought twice about posting, still expecting lots of "oh well you should try being size 30 or whatever"

Asos.com do size 6 as do new look , next (omline) , topshop(also do size 4) and warehouse. Lots more shops do size 6 online..if I think of any ill be back. P.s Next size 6 is really big so wouldnt bother with that.

southeastastra · 22/04/2009 20:51

american apparel?

brimfull · 22/04/2009 20:52

I have a friend who is tiny -very hard to find stuff under an 8
Principles used to do a good petite section-shame.
They still sel their stuff in JOhn Lewis so may be worth a try.

brimfull · 22/04/2009 20:53

h&m ? do they do a 6/

mileniwmffalcon · 22/04/2009 20:55

h&m sizes are teeny in general, worth trying their 8s i reckon.

RustyBear · 22/04/2009 21:02

DD (also a size 6) recommends Republic

I got most of her Christmas presents from there & their delivery service is very good.

MerlinsBeard · 23/04/2009 13:05

oh wow thank you!

i could shop online and try on in RL for most of those places. I am really fussy about clothes (can you tell) so need to know the fit etc before i buy it and will still justify the cost by buying the cheapest poss!!

I can't shop in the petite sections, i am 5'3" but have a long upper body so the petite sections come up too short. It's been a long time since i was this small and when i last was i worked in a fabbo shop with teeny tiny Miss60 !

Agree that next sizes are massive, i am currently wearing size 8 boyfriend jeans that a belt is struggling to hold up!!

Had completely forgotten about H&M too, their 6 fits nicely iirc.
