I have heard mixed reviews about this, saying it can get rid of scars and marks on the skin. Has anyone used it, and does it work?

It is magical on my mate's tattoo - she had a reaction to the ink, and rubbing bio oil on it makes it go from a fuzzy splurge where is is all enflamed to a proper pic.

i am using it atm on my stretchmarks
no visible difference after a couple of weeks

It was around in the 80s wasn't it?

Apparently you get results after three months use...has anybody used it for that long? Also, can you use it on children? My DS aged 6 has a few chicken pox scars and I was wondering if it can be used on them...?

I tried it on my acne scars and it was to greasy and brought me out in more spots.

But on other areas I think it has the same effect as any other body oil or good moisturiser, don't think it has magical properties. I think a lot of it is to do with you spending time rubbing it in religiously, maybe if you spend more you are inclined to spend more time rubbing it in??

hi there!
How are you feeling?

frazzledgirl · 20/04/2009 17:17

I rubbed it on my stomach religiously twice a day from 17 wks pg.

Was feeling pretty smug about my lovely smooth skin till I got stretch marks in week 38 .

But have to admit, there aren't that many, and they came through looking old and silvery rather than red and new. So maybe it helped a bit.

yes yes yes. It does work.

I used it on my scars after breast reduction - worked brilliantly.

I gave it to DNephew after he had surgery on his hand - worked brilliantly.

I am not as convinced that it works for stretch marks as opposed to proper scars, but as an excellent moisterizer - I like to put it in the bath - it helps in that way.

my dh rubbed it on my enormous bump and no stretch marks so i think it does

RamblingRosa · 22/04/2009 09:00

I used it on and off when pg and I didn't get any stretch marks. Don't know if that was down to the bio oil though or whether it was just luck.

Personally I wouldn't give it to a little kid. I think the main scar-healing ingredient in it is Vitamin E. You can get vit E oil from health food shops like Holland and Barrett. Usually cheaper than bio oil too. Might be a less chemically alternative for a child?
