Could I wear these shoes with this dress? If not, any suggestions?

Dress here www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/45030050

Shoes here
www.littlewoodsireland.ie/rf/lwi/p.do/women/footwear/emotion/cherry-leather-e-fit-slingback-wedge-sa ndals

The dress is chocolate brown background although it looks black here.

I have wide feet, can't wear much of a heel either. I like the shoes but are they too casual? Do I need something dressier?

Thanks

Lovely dress, but when I click on shoes it says that there is an error on the page?
The description of them sounds fine though, slingback wedge sandals......

Lizzylou · 19/04/2009 10:51

They are nice shoes, think they would look good.

mrsmaidamess · 19/04/2009 10:51

I've found them now. I presume its the taupe colored ones you were thinking of? They are a bit daytime for (wedding?).

I'll see what else I can find. Is chocolate brown ok?

TheDevilEatsNestle · 19/04/2009 10:52

What is the occasion. The shoes look like something my gran would wear, sorry.

mrsmaidamess · 19/04/2009 10:54

better

suiledonn · 19/04/2009 10:54

It is for a wedding. I dread buying shoes. Slightly wider than normal feet, high instep and just can't walk in much of a heel so tend to go for wedges. I usually feel I have got the shoe part wrong and it ruins the outfit.

more elegant than wedges

Lizzylou · 19/04/2009 10:57

Whispers, I would wear those Suiledonn, I can't wear much of a heel and have wide feet.
I think they are nice, not grannyish at all.
My Gran wouldn't wear a wooden wedge platform heel though

mrsmaidamess · 19/04/2009 10:58

Most of the wider fitting shoes online seem to be soo grannyish. Can you do with 'normal' shoes?

mrsmaidamess · 19/04/2009 10:59

If the heel was the same colour as the rest of the shoes they would look better.

Lizzylou · 19/04/2009 11:09

Yes, that's true MrsM, I think the shoes need to be one colour perhaps.

suiledonn · 19/04/2009 11:11

mrsmaidamess I can wear some 'normal' shoes, mostly casual stuff. It really depends on the shoe. I find it harder with dressy shoes to be honest and I hate spending the day with miserable uncomfortable feet.

Lizzylou My gran would be 101 if she was still alive so don't think she would have worn those either

i prefer maidamess's second link

suiledonn · 19/04/2009 11:16

Oh, I had missed the second link. I love those and they are an 'E' fit which is what I need. Thanks mrsmaid I think you are on to something there.

lovely dress..god awful shoes...sorry but i really think those shoes will age your outfit...maidamess link were much better

MamaHobgoblin · 19/04/2009 13:17

The dress is gorgeous! love it.

Think Maidamess's second link is best (I hate shopping for shoes with a passion too, but I'm not sure about the ones you were looking at).
