Space NK spending spree - what shall I buy?

It's my Birthday coming up, and my present is going to be a big spend up at Space NK. I would like to treat myself to some expensive make up and beauty stuff.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser - does it live up to the hype, and which one should I go for? Normal, illuminating or oil free ( I have quite oily skin, but a bit wrinkly too )

I'm leaning towards the illuminating one.

Keihl products - would anyone recommend them? If not, what else? Am looking for a cleanser and moisturiser.

I already love Chantecaille and am going to get a new stylo eye liner pen.

Am also looking for eye shadow, that I can use with a flat brush as eyeliner, and a loose finishing powder. Any recommendations?

I'm going to be 34, fine lines appearing.

I have the regular LM and it's good, but I'm v pale and spacenk don't stock the palest shade, porcelain

Kiehl's stuff is overrated imho

tiredsville · 15/04/2009 18:41

The regular LM tinted moisturiser is v.good.
I also really like Caudilie products for skin care. I use Caudalie 1st wrinkle cream.
I agree Kiehl's is overrated, but they do a good avocado eye cream.

TheMadHouse · 15/04/2009 18:46

Keils is full of chemicals IMO and it brought me out in a rash.

I wish I had the cash to splash at Space NK, but alas no more now we have children.

I love stilla make up.

I got some smashbox eyeliners off QVC that you pop on with a brush - a palette in funky colours and it is great stuff.

Chanel Prolumiere or vitalumiere foundation is lovely, goes on a treat and smells divine. Have you tired Dermalogica cleansers? Their precleanse oil is fabulous (can be bought on line much cheaper than in shop also)as is their skin smoothing cream. I love the candles in SpaceNK too.
Not at all of your spree!! honest.

macherie · 15/04/2009 19:06

You HAVE to get this!

It is the most miraculous stuff I have ever put on my face, and I have tried lots . It's in a different league to the Laura Mercier.

And a Diptyque Baies candle.

rubyslippers · 15/04/2009 19:09

I love the Byterry range - she invented touche eclat and now has her own range

i have the foundation and the concealer/brightener and they are both excellent - and just seen macherie has recommended the same - marvellous stuff

candles - meh

Aromatherapy Associcates - any of their bath stuff - v good

onebatmother · 15/04/2009 19:13

LOL at Terry's stuff 'creating a supernatural texture." Like, ectoplasmic?

Think they've over-diversified, they should've stuck to those chocolate oranges...

howtotellmum · 15/04/2009 19:40

I love REN- shower gels, face creams, especially the Frankincense Repair stuff.

Celery · 15/04/2009 19:41

Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone.

Definately trying the by Terry stuff.

Also, perfume - something light, fresh and floral ( and available from Space NK )- any suggestions?

SIL just sent me the lovely REN Rose Otto body wash. It's scrumptious.

midnightexpress · 15/04/2009 19:42

They also put in little samples of Acqua di Parma, which is classic and very nice, if you like htat sort of thing. Not sure how I'd describe it - floral?

rubyslippers · 15/04/2009 19:43

perfumes - daisy by Marc Jacobs is lovely

there are 2 versions

Dozymare · 15/04/2009 19:49

Oh how lovely! Am very Firstly, on your list, you MUST look at NARS Bronzer in Laguna....it is a lifesaver and although looks lquite dark in the box, if you put on with a big blush brush and blend well, yoiu will look amazing. This has been my lifesaver for years, when I have had sleepless nights/tired/no make up as it really smooths out the complexion and gives oyu some colour.

Forget LM (which is good) and opt for a chanel foundation. I like the illuminating one and matte one and alternate between the 2 depending on my skin at the time.

eye shadows - best are MAC. pigmentation is brilliant and last forver.

Cleanser - Eve Lom is good, but a bit of a faff with the muslin cloth every night....TBH, I use a oil of ulay facewash but a chanel toner.

Dipytique candles are lush, but have just discovered Natural Magic ones.....they are organic and 2x the size......I get online though direct as cheaper!

can you see I am a beauty junkie?!

Feelingoptimistic · 15/04/2009 21:39

Hi
I am a similar age to you and have oily skin, and found the oil free LM tinted moisturiser too dry. The regular one is good. But the Chantecaille products are my favourite, although very expensive...

Just in relation to Eve Lom, I suggest getting a sample before buying. I tried bought the cleanser a couple of years ago after hearing amazing things about it and my skin hated it - it blocked my pores and I broke out really badly, and had to stop using it after two days...

cherryblossoms · 15/04/2009 21:53

I like the Antonia's Flowers perfumes in Space NK. "Floret" is very light and floral, very sweet and pretty. "Tiempe Passante" is slightly more "going out-y".
No-one else in the UK sells them.

Oooh - lucky you. Have a great time.

tiredsville · 15/04/2009 22:45

Feeling Optimistic, so true re the Eve Lom. I bought the cleanser on the basis everyone swore by it.After turning into a spotty wreck, I was swearing at it.

KaiserSosay · 15/04/2009 22:51

laura mercier does NOT live up to the hype
but her eyeliner in blue black dos

KaiserSosay · 15/04/2009 22:51

the mere name "by terry" makes me htink of Hattie jacques
