Oh dear I have a really swishy WAG wedding next week and have some cycling shorts, clogs and a padded gillet in my wardrobe when you stop laughing at me could you help?

I bought this from monsoon lexington tunicand was planning to wear it with black leggings, mary-jane shoes and 60's hair but it looks awful I am taking it back as I think it makes me look like a busty Fondant Fancy.

I hate anything low cut- it looks very tarty on me as I have big boobs and I will be spending most of my time leaning over to pick up/rescue/break apart my children so would rather something with quite a safe neck line as I'll probably end up sat next to the pervo great uncle as is usually the case . I was hoping to wear a dress for simplicity I hate everything in the shops right now. I am a 14/16, apple shape with big boobs, slim legs but I have to be careful I don't show too much leg or I look top heavy.

Is there anything nice around that would be suitable, I'd also rather something that I could wear again after.

You may not want low-cut, but if you are busty you really need to wear something v-necked at the very least -- a high round neck like on that tunic will make you look about ten times bustier than you are, while a v-neck will break up your torso.

What about the dresses from Bravissimo -- designed to suit the large-of-bust and to fit without having to go up a size just to accommodate the bust.

lol at busty fondant fancy though....

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 10:30

Thank P&L you know what I think I am exaggerating on the clogs, the shorts and the boob front I am a DD cup, I just feel a bit exposed with my norks on show The tunic is lovely but does not suit a wedding.

monsoon have some lovely dresses at the moment. There is a black fitted shift dress with deep pink embroidery on..But I am not goood with big norked styles.

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 10:31

What's it called Molly?

I'm only an E cup (and probably DD when not breastfeeding), but if I wear anything with a neckline like that people start asking me if I'm pregnant because I look at least a stone heavier than I do in a v-neck.

Aefondkiss · 15/04/2009 10:34

Laura Ashley very respectable but a v neck, it will flatter your shape without being too revealing?

mollyroger · 15/04/2009 10:34

tyrying to find it now.

Aefondkiss · 15/04/2009 10:36

I have f sized norks, and am a size 10 -12, I know what you mean about being too revealing but you want to feel good and you will look better in a v neck, it is just finding one you are comfortable with.

mollyroger · 15/04/2009 10:37

I love this and 50s styling is good for big bosoms, no?

KingRolo · 15/04/2009 10:37

Monsoon black and flowery one?

mollyroger · 15/04/2009 10:38

they have some stunning v-necked dresses, but you'd need good scaffolding I reckon.

muffle · 15/04/2009 10:39

Ooh I think the 3rd dress on PortandLemon's link (luxurious lace dress) would look nice on you, and could work with the mary janes / 60s look (and even the leggings if you wanted)

Straight across neckline would solve your problem of not wanting to go low-cut, but not too high either.

Also think a white stuff-style v-neck wrap dress with a cami under it (to avoid gaping boob area) would work

this kind of thing

You can also get this style at boden.

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 10:42

yes I think some new foundation garments will be bought also. I really like the 50's dress, with perhaps a shrug. This is great I'm going to do a list of dresses to try on. I'm really glad I asked now. I tried the flowery dress and as I have a bit of a tum it made me look really pregnant ditto with the monsoon Kesa dress. How can I lose 2 stone by next saturday?

magic pants....

Aefondkiss · 15/04/2009 10:46

a good bra will make your norks look much smaller, freya do lovely bras, Debenhams etc stock them, it might be worth getting measured at the same time, just to make sure you are in the right size!

Do you prefer something in a block colour, and pale? Do you have a budget?

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 10:48

oh magic pants don't stay up on me they rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll down into a fetching tyre around my middle. No way!

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 10:50

I didn't want to spend more than £150 if doing separates as I would get more wear out of them?? for a dress and cardi then no more than £100 and I want some killer shoes but that's a whole new thread I'm not going to start- crocs it is then!

OP posts:
muffle · 15/04/2009 10:52

I don't think you should wear magic pants for the first time at a big do - well-fitting bra etc yes, but not control stuff. You don't know how it will feel or behave and you could end up wriggling and tugging all day. Better to just wear something that fits you well and you feel good in IME.

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 11:01

Are there any other shops doing lovely dresses at the mo?

OP posts:
PortAndLemon · 15/04/2009 11:25

There are Spanx magic pants-style thingies that attach to your regular bra, removing opportunity for rolling. They are £££ though.

Tillyscoutsmum · 15/04/2009 11:39

I definitely think you need v neck - think this is a great shape maybe with coloured/pale accessories to brighten it

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 12:38

Gosh that is lovely.

ha am LOL'ing at the all in one spanx gimp suit

I got 10o% silk dresses from Urban Outfitters yesterday, they were reduced from £60 to £9.99. I got blue and a silver grey. They would be nice with thick tights and heels. I'm a 14 and the large is more than roomy.

Megglevache · 15/04/2009 12:48

coco have you got a link??
