Hello

Dh has an interview at Uni next week. It's important as he ahs a fair chance of redundancy soon so having this set up will be important to us.

Usually for work interviews it's standard smart suit, but at thsi interview, as well as trying to fit in to an extent in group stuff with a load of 18 year olds (DH 37 and vewry low mature student intake, full day assessment in groups at times) DH will ahve to demonstrate how to set up a band kit for a roadie- ie get on the floor etc.

Ideas plese?

Dh office has a casual dress code for work, but loves clothes, so always looks pretty cool

I will ask him what he thinks and report back later.

Thank you, I will appreciate that

DH isn't a person who cares day to day- his dress code is black trews and black jumper, but he likes to dress up and I want to make him get something suitable and nice for the interview.

Black chinos, black nice (ie thin, soft wool) jumper and a bright coloured shirt under it then. Polished black boots. That sort of thing - I always like a shirt and nice jumper combo

If its an active sort of interview, then a suit would look silly, and he'll be best off wearing something he'll be comfortable in but that looks like he has made an affort. But yet isn't too mature

That sounds like a smart version of every day, he will like that suggestion LOL. I am thinking his work steel toe caps might be best as in one section there are a lot of heavy things that could fall. they're a smart office version, though.

Toetectors sound very sensible in that sort of setting. A good polish and they'll be perfect

What is he interviewing for ?

Peachy · 15/04/2009 11:00

Degree in lighting design and a degree in live event technology- they run both interviews together- eeeeeek

Ooh, that sounds really interesting. My nephew wants to do that sort of thing (he is 15, and working out whether he wants to do stage management or technical side)

Def black with a nice bit of colour to show his artistic side then

dh has been doing the outdoor stuff as a hobby for years now, has asmall retail side asell and wants to combine it; didnt seem a risk worth taking but with redundancies anyway heck, why not LOL.

I am going to inform him later I am taking him shopping the day before the interview LOL.

So, I asked dh, and he suggests dark jeans and a cool shirt, maybe a floral print or stripes.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about mens floral shirts.

Best of luck with the interview

here it is

DH is in this line of work. Black is the order of the day for lampies as far as I can tell. For any event where appearance matters, he usually falls back on black Levis or chinos with smartish jumper and very occasionally a shirt but more usually a T-shirt. Proper shoes but not the sort you would wear with a suit. Sounds as if you are on the right lines.

Good luck too, and RIP your evenings and weekends (or is it like that already?)
