How to disguise my flabby postnatal belly?? Please??

I have a 13wo DS2. Have lost most of the weight (a couple of kilos up, but bf breasts gone from B to E+ so that explains a lot of it...).

HOWEVER, still have horrible big baggy belly. Am hoping it'll get better over time, but what can I wear NOW to look a bit better? I'm mostly a jeans and tops person. Still wearing one pair of mat jeans and pre-pg jeans look fine (good) on my legs but only just do up on waist, to leave v yucky muffin top.

I could go out and buy one or two new things, but don't want a whole new wardrobe as hope things will improve. But very fed up of looking like a sack of potatoes.

So any ideas/tips?

M&S £12 jeans - they come up to just below your nipples and holds everything in.

stirlingstar · 14/04/2009 20:53

OK - so will fix the prob of getting flabby belly out to bf in public too, eh?

Loose smock tops or loose fitting t-shirts with open cardies/warps over the top will draw the eye away from the muffin top. I've a 9 week old and am in the same position as you and they constitute my wardrobe staple at the moment

Well.. maybe not quite that high . Seriously they are a higher waist than most and are very flattering, you can't go wrong for £12.

MrsMerryHenry · 14/04/2009 20:56

Tuck it into your jeans.

morningpaper · 14/04/2009 20:57

wear tights underneath which come up high

long vests ALL THE TIME

Do loose smock tops not make you look pregnant? Any recommendations for where to buy?

Oh Oh I got silk dresses/tunics in Urban Outfitters today for £9.99 reduced from £60. They're nice .

stirlingstar · 14/04/2009 21:06

Crikey that's a bargain. Am googling...

What about some vest tops from primark I find the straps quite lengthy and you could took the neckline under your boobs whilst feeding using the rest to cover your tummy?

hatcam · 14/04/2009 21:11

Long vests underneath everything and layer up on the top.

H&M maternity vests are fab as they are much longer than normal vests so will totally hide the muffin top. The fabric's quite thick too so feels like it's giving you a bit of shape. And they're only £4.99.

I echo the M&S jeans for £12 - they are an absolute godsend. They do up round the waist and just keep the wobbly belly in check.

Also, try these tops - they are fab as they sit around the hips but are baggy round the stomach area - really really flattering

The M&S jeans and one of these tops is my fave outfit at the moment.

No H&M on the doorstep, but will try the £12 M&S jeans and Next tops tomorrow. Will also extend my long vest collection.

I've got a couple of Bravado nursing tank tops which are brill (essentially a long vest with built in drop cup bra)- highly recommended if anyone else is looking - but starting to get a bit hot sometimes in all the layers. And muffiny bits still visible through vest - but hope sorting out jeans will help.
