Is there a product I can buy (on the High Street) to remove semi-permanent hair dye?

I got distracted whilst I had the colour on last time and I'm still annoyed at how dark it is.

Thanks

Just wash your hair, a lot.

mrsmaidamess · 11/04/2009 19:07

Oh I had this problem a while ago and posted on here and got many helpful replies. Use Head and Shoulders was one good idea, as it strips your hair better than other shampoos. But its a pain when its too dark isn't it?

Yes there is stuff you can get from Salon Services that you mix together and leave on for 20 mins then wash out and I cannot think of it's name.

Is that how you got your name mrsm? Head & Shoulders - will try, thanks. I did think that just washing my hair a lot should help but a) I hate drying it and b) I use semi-permanents so often to that they never ever really fade out.

Wait till I check upstairs.......

Oh I always make a dreadful mess when I dye my hair. Splashes on the paint work, shower curtain, I've ruined countless tops. Its because I always do it on a whim.

Tinker · 11/04/2009 19:18

Yes, hate having to do it. Wish I had the good grace (and skin tone and bone structure) to go grey stylishly.

This is the stuff

MuffinBaker · 11/04/2009 19:23

Boots sells something that takes the colour out of your hair. Be careful when you use it though..

Tinker · 11/04/2009 19:24

Oo, that looks exciting although am a bit nervous about the 'This product is for professional use only' warning. Will it strip out () all traces of all hair dyes?

Muffin - why??

I use permanent colour on my hair and use that stuff about twice a year to get rid of build up. It takes the colour back a good shade lighter but not as harsh as a bleach.

There are some pretty scary products out there and L'Oreal's 'Efassor' springs to mind (which I've never used but it seems drastic).

MuffinBaker · 11/04/2009 19:27

I had about 4 stripes of different colours going down my hair.

It does what it says on the tin..

Tinker · 11/04/2009 19:28

Drastic. Harsh. Bleach. Coudl do a patch test somewhere unobtrusive. Thanks anyway GO

Muffin - before or after?

OP posts:
MuffinBaker · 11/04/2009 19:35

Before I did it I had a lot of colour on my hair but it all looked natural. After I did it I had more colours and it didn't look natural so I put an all over dye on it until I could get to the hairdressers. I have a semi-permanent on at the moment.

Tinker · 11/04/2009 20:45

Hmm. Thanks for the warning though

It's all in the timings for how long the bits of colour have been on your hair.

Tinker · 12/04/2009 13:49

Well, the Head & Shoulders has certainly lightened it. Good tip, thank you.
