OK I had an aveda salon cut for the first time yesterday with a 'stylist' (£32) very pleased with the result. Then I spent the same amount again on some shampoo and conditioner!

I'm normally a toni and guy girl, but have been disappointed of late.

Any opinions on aveda salons/products? I'n quite taken with them and the stylist seemed very thorough but I don't know anything about them as a brand.

In Buxton, Derbyshire. I think I got a fledgling stylist as I just needed an emergency haircut and she was very good. Makes me wonder what the top guys would've been like.

They last for ages and the moussy stuff for curls is fantastic. The detangler is the best I've found yet for the raggle taggle mops my dcs have.
Yes, they are madly expensive but you only need a tiny amount. They smell beautiful.

I'm a fan of their hair products too. Their colour-enhancing stuff is very effective and the rosemary and mint one is gorgeous and fresh. Anyway, beware of salons trying to flog you the big bottles, while they do last AGES and are good value, you can easily get the smaller ones in dept. stores. There's something very wrong about spending £20+ on a one bottle of shampoo, however big it is.

Their colouring is second to none and worth every penny. The only problem with my local Aveda salon is that he's so popular you would ahve to book three months in advance on a weekday to get an appointment, so I gave up and go somewhere a close second now.

I recently returned to their shampoos though and love their Brilliant shampoo and conditioner. For coloured fine hair and daily use it's just, erm, brilliant!

If you're going to shell out for them regularly, join their Pure Privildge card scheme because you get points which you can then redemme for various lovely things including case of champagne. Aveda concession is in our local Debehams which us handy as well as I wait until they having a 20% sale and buy then to save a few quid. Costs £10 to join but you also get a goodie bag full of stuff for that.

Aveda hair products are excellent.

francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2009 21:10

And I agree with wing, the colouring is superb too.

I use their shampoo for after swimming and it was expensive but it is lasting for ages and ages. I don't think it smells that nice though but my mum uses the rosemary and mint and its lush. I buy it from Fenwicks in York.

Usually get a large bottle for Christmas and it lasts most of the year...
