Maternity Jeans - Any Recommendations Please?

Hello All

I've been lurking here for a few days and love that there is actually a board about fashion loveliness as I'm only 11 weeks pregnant and can't read about buggies and stuff just yet.

I am only 11 weeks but constant nausea that is only alleviated by lots of bread (with various unhealthy toppings) means that my jeans are already too tight. So, I went shopping last week and spent lots of money on lots of clothes I don't like and a pair of maternity jeans from Top Shop that don't seem to have any denim in them and bagged limply around my crotch on the first wear.

Can anyone recommend maternity jeans for women who aren't terribly pregnant but are terribly greedy?

Many thanks, x

gap - the under the bump ones til you're about 28 weeks then the lovely big ones that I lived in for the next 5 months.

I know its a us site but you get the same stuff here - I LOVE gap maternity (mores the pity I discovered it so late on).

gap jeans

I loved my Blooming Marvellous ones and wore them from around 12-13 weeks right til the end. They have various styles

Had same problem as you lipstickgirl, horrible morning sickness both times only alieviated by constant eating! I absolutely loved my maternity jeans which were by Seven For All Mankind. Not cheap but as I practically lived in them they were worth the price and no one could believe that they were maternity jeans. Afraid I don't have any other recommendations though as all my friends have only ever moaned about the shortcomings of their maternity jeans from topshop, h&m etc. Very similar to buying normal jeans I suppose, can take a while to find your perfect pair.

Good luck!

would second what bellebelle said re style being what you like non maternity and I agree re it being something you should splash cash on as it is something that you'll wear loads . the only thing I'd say is watch out for builders bum syndrome -as your bump expands I found some of the lower cut ones (I had some mamas and papas ones) started to get pushed down so I had an attractive knicker line showing (and it drove me mad) so you need to find what works on your bump...

Thanks girls, I'll have a look for all of the above.

I really need to go and get some new things as none of my clothes fit (I kind of didn't lose my Christmas weight alas) and I'm feeling grotesque already...

I just don't know what to wear for anything - work, the supermarket, lazing around. I need a pregnancy 'capsule' wardrobe so any suggestions would be very much appreciated otherwise I may just have to wear a poncho and leggings until October...

I'm pregnant with my 3rd dc and have just bought these which are pricey but well worth it

I can say this having bought Blooming Marvellous ones with dd (under bump?? more like under-bum) and Topshop ones with ds.

Topshop ones pretty good for the price I thought, but not as good as these. These are high cut at the back so you never flash your crack - fabulous!!!!

Don't know how much you're looking to spend but I highly recommend maternity clothes from Homme Mummy. I bought one black dress and a pair of trousers for my first pregnancy and wore them constantly for work both times around and then have just sold them on eBay for about 50% of what I paid for them as they were such good quality.

A couple of shrugs/cardigans are good to dress up plain tops or over a dress. Good to have quality trousers and plain dresses and then pick up tops from places like topshop, H&M etc as you go, you'll want different types of tops as your bump grows.

There is a really nice maternity label called Lait which is really good value and does some really lovely items. I got a couple of things in a maternity boutique where I live but you can find it online. The majority of maternity stuff is online unfortunately which can mean a lot of ordering and returning stuff until you get it right. Crave maternity is good too, I have a top from there which I'll continue to wear despite being back to my normal size as it is really well cut.

Oh, and seeing as you'll be heavily pregnant during summer as I was both times you'll need a couple of light weight sacks to wear for the last month when you can't bear anything else!

Sorry!!!

I loved my TopShop bootcut black jeans, raved about them to my friend, and she bought the same pair and loved them too. They're cut under the bump and really flattering.

Also had a pair of more boyfriend-cut jeans from there which weren't so flattering but were amazingly comfortable.

I also lived in leggings and tunics, and Next had a pair of trousers like this which were incredibly comfortable and I lived in for the last few weeks when I couldn't fit into anything else/be bothered with buttons.

mrsflux · 02/04/2009 09:21

i loved my mammas and papas ones. they also do them in short, regular and long lengths so if you are little like me you don't have to turn them up!

tryingfornumber2 · 02/04/2009 09:31

I had a pair of Blossom Mother and Child own brand jeans, they were great, and really comfortable.

SuzeMcG · 02/04/2009 09:47

I lived in my Citizen for Humanity maternity jeans. Expensive but worth every penny!

LipstickGirl · 02/04/2009 11:07

Thank you, thank you! Am armed with my credit card and off to do virtual shopping...

Bellebelle, I must admit I'm not looking forward to a sticky, pregnant summer - and I'm due to be a bridesmaid in Italy in August! I think I might bow out gracefully as to be honest I'm rather worried that I'm going to look like a ship in full sail and ruin all her photos...

LetThemEatCake, those jeans look gorgeous but as I'm already a size 14/16 do they go up to that size?! I swear if I ever get pregnant again I won't do it until I have a BMI of 15!
