and if hideous can you please find me summat else. Bear in mind enormous feet, good ankles, brown legs, well-groomed nails, pregnant, and not wanting to spend ££££.

Just too Marcus Aurelius for me. Hopeless at shoe shopping though. Schuh is always a good starting point.

madlentileater · 01/04/2009 20:49

insane says dd2, like something off the set of a cheap 1960s sci fi film
(she is my style consultant)
sadly she has nothing constructive to offer, sorry

BirdyArms · 01/04/2009 20:52

I could never wear them being chubby of ankle and bluish white in colour but with good ankles and brown legs I think they'd look great.

SamVimesIsMyHero · 01/04/2009 20:54

Are you looking for flat sandals? I'm looking at schuh's site, there are loads of things there...

LetThemEatCake · 01/04/2009 20:59

yes, flat sandals but nothing like flip-flops, if you get me, since I wear them all the time. So something day but more, I dunno, va va voom.

Link to anything good you find on schuh!!

lentil - lol at your dd, how old is she??

kettlechip · 01/04/2009 21:01

sorry, not for me. Would like them if they didn't go so far up the ankle, the pattern and colour is really nice. Just a tad too gladiatorial I think. And I have similar enormous feet and narrow ankles.

Can you bear Boden? Just ordered these in silver -
www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/Womens-Shoes/Sandals/AR392/Womens-Leather-Sandals.html

or these are slightly more like the ones you linked to -

www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=40&viewAllFlag=false&catalogId=1 9551&storeId=12556&categoryId=138961&parentcategoryrn=42358&productId=1046732&langId=-1

LetThemEatCake · 01/04/2009 21:03

could not live with myself if I bought from Boden, and they are a bit too flip-floppy - but the TopShop ones look promising - ta kettlechip!

Really tempted by these ones now! May cancel that Boden order..

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 01/04/2009 21:12

Have you tried camper? they usually have nice flats.

madlentileater · 01/04/2009 21:16

dd is 17
she thinks, actually that thicker soles would be more comfortable!

DiamondHead · 01/04/2009 21:18

I quite like them but I think you need to be tall.
I like sonething that straps round the ankle as flip flop styles are always too deep for my feet.
I got a nice Carvela pair last year, just on one of those cheap racks, you know where all the sizes are out on display.

LetThemEatCake · 01/04/2009 21:22

cancel the Boden order kettle!! cancel it!! don't buy from The Beast!!!!

DiamondHead - I am tall, 5,10" and a bit. So maybe? And ankle detail tends to work quite well on me (think it balances out my fat knees)

lentil!! 17?? Thicker soles?? COMFORT????!!!

what have you produced!!?????

OP posts:
Babbity · 01/04/2009 21:24

those style of shoes + big feet = the BFG

macherie · 02/04/2009 13:09

LTEC I thought of you this morning when I saw these, they are really nice in RL, not really shiny as the name suggests ( I prefered the gold), and really cheap!

MakeHayNotWar · 02/04/2009 13:48

Loads here

Aldo

MrsMattie · 02/04/2009 14:21

Not convinced. I like low Gladiators, but not keen on the ones that go so far up your leg.

Some nice ones on that Aldo link.

these, these and these are pure comedy, though

MakeHayNotWar · 02/04/2009 15:06

these too argh

madwomanintheattic · 02/04/2009 15:08

how pregnant? as well as being hideous gladiatorial, they'll be a real (literal) pain to get on and off anywhere past 4 months, won't they?

georgiemum · 02/04/2009 15:09

They will cut your feet to ribbons! There is not enough vaseline to stop this. Don't do it!

samsonara · 02/04/2009 17:06

They are one of the nice gladiator styles I have seen and I think they will look fab with a cute shortish skirt or a floaty maxi, love the gold pair!

kettlechip · 02/04/2009 21:33

Saw the ones I was lusting after in store today and they're a bit flimsy - really thin sole. I agree that the ones you like will be a faff to get on and off too never mind with a baby bump to bend around. The hunt continues..
