Because I can't find any for the life of me. Apart from one nice set of blue / blue & purple striped ones at Boden which have now sold out. Duh.

Thanks

I have Gap ones for my DD and they're great, no bagging at knees and some lovely designs.

friend of mine swears by American Apparel for her dd, I've got Bonds ones but bought in Australia, not sure if available here?

But check american apparel for starters. my friend says - I quote - "they've changed my life"

American Apparel is a good call.

Osh Kosh B'Gosh have a great selection but I don't know of any UK stockists but if you know of anyone holidaying in the US soon then you could ask?

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 31/03/2009 23:54

Ooh thanks, will try Gap and American Apparel. I didn't know they did kids clothes.

And while we're on the subject of children's hosiery, may I just mention socks? Now, why are all girls socks sold in horrible multi packs of sugary pink and white (white ffs! They go on your feet. They get dirty.) yucky flowery kitteny patterns? Is there not a market for unobtrusive plain colours that don't involve pink and/or revolting logos?

I probably need to get out more.

Got some plain leggings in various colours from Adams online recently, but they are the calf-length ones not ankle ones.

Gap kids socks are the best I've ever found, and they do some interesting colours/patterns.

P.O.P , Zara, la Redoute

Stardust do lovely stripy ones that are great quality.

Second vote for Zara. They have got a good selection of colours, they wash and wear well. Also do a short (just below the knee) and a longer length (just above ankle) although I do find that you sometimes have to ask for alternative lengths from the stock room.

the Slingsellers online have lovely 'babylegs' which are legwarmers for littlies - the whole leg so they work great for calves for small children or armwarmers for grownups.
