reading the back of my shampoo this morning in the bath, i was shocked at the list of chemicals listed. i would like to get some that the whole family can use, so doesnt cost a small fortune and i have a fit when the kids put it on barbies hair. i would also ghet conditioner, does anyone know of a reasonable priced set. thanks

Do you mean a shampoo that hasnt got the nasty chemicals?

whoingodsnameami · 29/03/2009 18:54

Simple shampoo has no perfume, not sure if they do a conditioner though.

Furball · 29/03/2009 18:57

Boots sell a brand called 'naked' it's in with all the normal brands.

It contains no nasties - lovely stuff. Foams (somehow) better than organic or natural shampoos too.

ihatethecold · 29/03/2009 18:57

yes , not necessarily no perfume, but nasty chemicals

OP posts:
ihatethecold · 29/03/2009 18:58

how much does naked cost then

OP posts:
Furball · 29/03/2009 18:59

simple may not have any perfume - but IMHO thats the least of worries for cosmetics.

SLS or sulfar lauryl sulfate is and industrial oil cleaner that appears in alot/most high street brands or soaps, shampoos and the like. very, very stripping to our skin and hair.

ihatethecold · 29/03/2009 19:00

i hear that parabens are horrid also

OP posts:
Furball · 29/03/2009 19:00

Naked range is not overly priced

Furball · 29/03/2009 19:02

this is the flavour I use

Pawslikepaddington · 29/03/2009 19:02

I got some from Tesco's that is chemical free, but it was expensive (£7)-it is called Louise Galvin, but my scalp feels much less sore since I got it (may be my imagination though!)

ihatethecold · 29/03/2009 19:03

well thats a bargain. i always assumed that it would be a tenner upwards to have decent stuff. thanks for the link. some of the stuff is buy one get one free

OP posts:
onadietcokebreak · 29/03/2009 19:23

Agree that Naked stuff looks good for the price...I too may be converted!

scienceteacher · 29/03/2009 19:36

Parabens is indeed horrid - to pathogens!

You gotta be cruel to be kind, you know!

ihatethecold · 29/03/2009 20:04

i dont get what you mean scienceteacher

OP posts:
janeite · 29/03/2009 20:06

That Naked stuff made my scalp sore and my hair greasy!

Can't offer any alternatives though unless you are rich and can buy Neal's Yard stuff in Waitrose.

scienceteacher · 29/03/2009 20:07

parabens are preservatives. They are good for the product - they protect humans.

bluebump · 29/03/2009 20:10

The Naked stuff was rubbish on my hair too. Lush do some shampoos, the solid ones are quite good on my hair and it's been abused by peroxide for years.

They look like they contain some chemicals but they do contain lots of real oils etc, here

ihatethecold · 29/03/2009 20:11

so i dont need to avoid parabens then? just sls

cornsilk · 29/03/2009 20:13

I like MOP. You can get it from the MOP website, ebay or QVC.

Tn0g · 29/03/2009 20:23

I bought, Yes To Carrots, shampoo and condioner because they're paraben free and contain lovely things like sweet potato [yes really] and carrots [obviously] all totally organic and lovely.

Was studying the back of the bottle this morning in the shower and noticed they are produced in Israel, don't know if that would put you off at all.

ihatethecold · 29/03/2009 20:29

OP posts:
KingRolo · 29/03/2009 20:30

I also tried Naked shampoo and conditioner and it left my hair really lank and greasy. It's crap - that's why it's cheap and on special offer in Boots!

Looks like we need them parabens after all!

Or is there an oil-cleansing type miracle solution here?

Tn0g · 29/03/2009 20:33

I actually live in Ireland so bought them in Dunnes Stores, don't know if they have them in the UK.

You can buy it in pharmacies too.

It's good stuff and not too pricey.
