Educate me. What is a "school run wardrobe"?

I see dozens of thread titles along the lines of "Need a dress for the school run", "What are you wearing for the school run?".

I'll probably get flamed for this and get told that I am BU but I wouldn't have posted if I minded this. Of course it's nice to look decent whenever you go out but how long does one take to decide what to wear to walk to school with the los?

Isn't what you wear on a day to day basis good and practical enough for the school run?

My interpretation of school run clothes is the opposite of most of yours. It is something you throw on for the quick trip to school when you do not need to make an effort (i.e. not going to work, or out to lunch). A bit like dog walking or gardening clothes.

Agree with Fimbo, some of you have missunderstood the concept. The school run dress is a sweatsuit alternative that you throw on with ease to take your children to school. So that if you've been gardening or exercising in clothes you wouldn't want to be seen in public with you have something simple to pull on.

That's what I thought. The need for a school run outfit implies having spent the previous hours of daylight slobbing around in clothes your wouldn't be seen dead in - therefore need something to tug on quickly when you suddenly realise you are late for school pick-up.

Me? I always look presentable, so no need for special school run outfit.

Nah - just kidding. Scruffy jeans and top all the way here.
