Control pants in extra small size ? Anyone ????

Hi

I am some would say lucky to be a size 8 -10 dress size after working very hard on my 5 finger stomach muscle separation after my second child 10 months ago.

I do, however, have what I think they call an 'apron' - an excess of saggy skin and generally a pot, which makes me look like I am 4 or so months pregnant. This looks worse as I have very small breasts so have nothing to balance out my tummy.

I have tried a Spanx Slim Cognito bodysuit (I only want my tum to be sucked in - I don't want the cycling short type), but even in size small, it doesn't do much because I am generally pretty slim. I really need extra small. Spanx don't do them - I have written to them in the US.

I wondered if anyone could recommend anything that is as 'heavy duty' as the Spanx but in a small size. I have looked at M&S magic knickers etc and they don't do anything.

This is really getting me down so any help would be appreciated.

Ah - you and me both. I shall be watching this with interest as I'm exactly the same - I blame no boobs!! x

God clucky - it's depressing isn't it. I recoil in horror if I catch myself bending over in a mirror. Surgery is the only thing going to shift it. I would never have agreed to surgery before my babies - now - I'd bite their hand off.

The thing is, in clothes, sucking my stomach in, I have an enviable figure. I tried a waist cincher belt on yesterday and looked great in it - from the back !

Maybe if there are other ladies out there in the same position, we could all write to Spanx ! Convince them there is a market for ladies like us... They are very friendly and run by a female entrepeneur...

I'll join you! Am size 8, 7 stone and 5 foot but had huge twins and another baby. I have also not got much up top! It is gross but I do think posture can help too.

I notice when I have high heels on that it doesn't look as bad. And if I walk around with my stomach sucked in, people ask me what I am complaining about. Until I breathe out - then they can't make light of it ! There is no denying my tummy is wrecked.

Have just emailed Maidenform who make a brand called Flexees which Selfridges recommended when I didn't fit the Spanx.

Really - if we all email Spanx, they might start to listen !! There is a market for these...

had the same problem, i'm a size 10, but post c-section have this overhang i just can't shift,i found marks and spencer's magic knickers didn't do the trick, but surprisingly these much cheaper shapewear ones did

cluckyagain · 25/03/2009 19:29

Hmm - naomi - do they go up high enough? The problem I also have is I'm tall (5 10) and have a long body so my belly button seems to be around everybody elses boob height!! Consequently, everything sits on my hips as nothing is long enough.

cluckyagain · 25/03/2009 19:30

Just read my post - the Hmm is not an 'I don;t believe you one' but an 'I wonder....' one - just in case you thought I was being rude!!

cluckyagain · 25/03/2009 19:32

Sorry me again - Looby, yes it is thoroughly depressing! I look like a worm with a belly.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 25/03/2009 20:23

Oh ladies, I feel your pain. Have exactly the same problems with tummy and am a size 8 - 10. Yep, fine when dressed but omg, hate being naked . (still get my bikini on for the beach though.......life's too short but I am hoping for a tummy tuck in the next year).

I don't know how good they are but yesterday spotted that Tesco are doing support wear now. For those of us with long bodies they are doing a really humungous pair of pants which I would guess come higher than belly button level but which are cut like regular pants around the legs (so not the cycling pants version!). They also have a "no vpl" finish around the legs. Other styles included a "boy shorts" version and a full-on Spanx style with legs etc.

Am definitely going to try a pair and will report back as soon as I have road-tested them.

naomi83 · 26/03/2009 07:43

hhhm, not sure how high they go, i'm 5f 4 and can just about tuck my tummy into them, so maybe not so good for you (worth trying though? they're very cheap?) tescos ones sound fab, please report back. also i find very padded bras (gel ones etc) help balance out the nothing on top, huge tummy problem.

8oreighty · 26/03/2009 12:39

Am in same boat as you, I wear Flexees every day... the ones that are like a big band (no pants attached) they have metal ribbing, and are great, have tried everything there is, and they are the only thing that works, although don't last that long with every day wear! I got them from John Lewis, around £29 I think...not cheap, but they work...come in black and skin colour.

8oreighty · 26/03/2009 12:40

meant to say, the small size is small enough..I am also a size 10, quite small waist...so they do the trick.
