went to get DD2 some new trainers/shoes etc and the shop could only really offer me geox (which I normally buy) in very pale pink or white or lelli kellies at £50

where as the boys geox were lovely bright blues or reds and more sensible for outdoor play - do manufacturers really still believe that girls only sit inside playing with dolls and tea sets my girls are as filthy if not more so than most boys the same age

right, rant over am off to ebay to see what I can get instead

It's annoying isn't it.

AnyFucker · 24/03/2009 13:44

buy the boys ones for her then

you don't have to stick with the gender stereotypes, you know

dizzydixies · 24/03/2009 13:46

I know anyfucker I know am just so bloody annoyed that in this day and age they still think they should be all prim and proper

DD1 used to have a fab pair of bright red ones but it was all sparkles and pale today - all DD2 wanted to try on were the scooby doo crocs, even at 2yrs she knows she's not a wee princess

do you know what I wouldn't mind the paleness if they weren't so bloody expensive, shall happily buy her wee canvass ones from New look in pale pink for £3 and she can demolish them all she wants

I heartily agree with the pale/sparkly/just plain lightweight shoes for girls is plain wrong!

I nearly gave an assistant in our local shoe shop a coronary when I asked for a pair of boys boots for dd.
They are fabbo, just the job for bouncing around in this weather.

She wears boys t-shirts a lot too

PinkPussyCat · 24/03/2009 13:52

How about these?
Prob still a bit pale for mucky play though. and not so cheap either... Hmmm will have a think...

dizzydixies · 24/03/2009 13:53

Macdog, I think thats what I'll be doing, I'm not really into gender specific stuff (DD3 even has a name more commonly used for boys) I just wonder WHY they think girls aren't outside in the muck as much as the boys

Dd is always in boys stuff, partly because she has an older brother, but tbh a lot of the things I get her new are boys, just generally nicer imo.

TsarChasm · 24/03/2009 13:56

And then when they get older they seem to be nothing but black.

I'd like a choice. Maybe red shoes, navy blue, plum colours, dark green. Agree pale colours are hopeless.

Macdog · 24/03/2009 14:00

these are the boots she got - pretty unisex really

Macdog · 24/03/2009 14:01

Start-rite do girls shoes in navy which I love because I can polish out the scuff marks
