My face needs help!

Since I hadd DD two years ago I have aged by about ten years! My face looks grey and lined and saggy. I don't like it at all.

My last uninterrupted night's sleep was July 13th 2006 and having two part time jobs, doing extra work from home, caring for high-maintainance dh who has been sick all winter and one aged parent is all quite hard work, so I realise stress must have something to do with it, but I feel I look in my late fifties, not in my forties.

Any ideas?

You don't mention budget, so I'll assume that spending as little as possible is desirable... Many people on this thread have reported great results from the oil cleansing method - in particular "healthy glowing skin", which is what you're after. Perhaps you could try it.

Do you drink enough water and eat well too? I believe that taking in enough fluids and the quality of one's diet (plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, healthy oils. fish, etc.) affect the appearance of one's skin too.

And a good night's sleep probably doesn't do any harm either, but I know from experience that those can be hard to come by!

HTH!

I use tescos bnatural handcream honest it's lovely on the face! and it's cheap. At night I add a few drops of bio-oil to it and slather it on. It has improved my leathery look ten fold.

These days you can get treatments that are easily accessible, but pretty expensive. I like diamond microdermabrasion facials. They work by intensely exfoliating the skin and vacuuming away dead skin cells. They are expensive at £55 each but the difference is amazing and absolutely worth it. Since I started having the treatments I get very few spots, my skin looks white and glowing and I never have the 'shiny' look which I used to get (because I have combination skin). These places also do peels which are good.

Wow! The thought of me doing a treatment. I have never done anything like that. (Maybe that is obvious by looking at me) Must have been lucky when younger not to need to. I was always fat with funny hair, but liked my face. Now it is leaving me too!

Treatments are no bad thing though The good thing is that you don't have to do them that often to get results and even a one-off seems to make a big difference. I don't do it often at all but don't need to use much foundation or various stuff that I used to buy.

Racingsnake · 22/03/2009 19:37

I'm all for treatments in theory. In practice, I need time when I'm not working and someone non-threatening to go with.

Have just massaged my face with olive oil from the kitchen cupboard, as per above link, making use of time when DD was in her bath. Cut short by DD crying because water was cold. True; not very warm because I had stolen some of the hot water!

fill an old drinks bottle with water and put in the fridge, and make sure you drain it every day and refill it every night. buy a vitamin suplement if you're not getting enough fruit and veg. get a good night sleep-read healthy sleep habits, healthy child (buy off amazon) if your toddler is keeping you up all night, and have a bath with lavender oil before you sleep. these things alone should improve your skin.

Racingsnake · 22/03/2009 20:52

Yep, will add lavender oil to castor oil on my shopping list.

Would redbush tea count as water? Ie is it total liquid or only water? (I don't include gin and tonic or cola, just non-caffeinated tea and juices)

Have just done this olive oil treatment and my face feels lovely and soft. Am aiming for the 'glow' everyone talks about - will keep you informed! I am early forties, dry skin, rapidly wrinkling

Racingsnake · 23/03/2009 12:39

OK. Let's see who glows first! Was thinking of buying a bottle of caster oil as recommended on the thread.
