Cardigans - please help

I need some cardigans to brighten up my wardrobe. I do not want boyfriend cardigans, cropped cardigans, shrugs or round-necked cardigans. I do not want peach or lilac or pale blue cardigans.

I DO want v-neck cardigans that reach my waist, are fitted and are in colours to suit a very pale skinned brunette.

Any ideas please, lovely ladies?

Poo, wrong page....Argh! I can't get it to work! There are some lovely deep v neck cardigans in the new Next directory. If you go to the website, click on the Summer 2009 tab on the top right then look on casualwear, colour the summer, page 4, you should find them. Would be much easier if it bloody well let me link!

jumpjockey · 21/03/2009 21:11

Gap usually have lovely merino wool wrap-around ones which I wore in early pregnancy so plenty or norkage to fit in. Depends on if you like the wrap style or not though.

mrsmaidamess · 21/03/2009 21:12

Oh ! I have the perfect cardigan from the (teenage) section of H&M.

I too am a pale skinned brunette and this cardi is a bright corally orange, with cream stars all over it. I love it.

Everyone comments on it. I'm a size 14 and although the tops come up small in that section it was lovely. No linky though, I'm afraid.

Marthasmama · 21/03/2009 21:13

Ah ha! Here we go!!

janeite · 21/03/2009 21:13

Have got a couple of round necks but they really do look awful, perhaps because I am quite petite apart from the norks?

Is the H&M one a v-neck? I like the purple Next one.

Yes H&M is a v neck.

janeite · 21/03/2009 21:19

Okay - will look in H&M, Next, Gap tomorrow, although I only usually go into H&M for dd1's sake. The Kew ones seem a bit pricey to me. Am trying to persuade dp that I really need to spend 235 pounds (pound sign not working) on a lovely short sleeved Vivienne Westwod one with orb buttons but I suspect that isn't going to happen!!

Do you have a Zara nearby? They're usually great for colourful things as well.

Nontoxic · 21/03/2009 22:22

Agree with Marla Singer re. round necks: you can get away with them if you wear a little vest underneath and be brave and unbutton to below the norks - looks like you're bursting out to a cynical (jealous) person but it breaks up the expanse of boob and is very flattering (and useful if you have a narrow back).

Aefondkiss · 21/03/2009 22:41

Janeite, I am similar to you, I don't wear my round neck cardigan buttoned all the way up, I have 32f norks and I am also short, dark, pale, we must be sisters

Aefondkiss · 21/03/2009 22:43

I like Zara , they do good v neck sleeveless jumper/pullover type thing too, reasonable price and good fit.

Nontoxic · 21/03/2009 22:45

I'm taller with 34ff and I'm vouching again for trying the round necks.

Heated · 21/03/2009 23:06

red

grey except it has a stupid bow on it

fat face

ink JL

but the nicest ones I've seen in bold colours, ideal for summer with fine textured detail are in Topshop but their website is down.

XGirl · 22/03/2009 00:37

H&M have loads at the moment, V necks in bright colours for £9.99

janeite · 22/03/2009 16:04

Thanks all. Well - I failed. I went to Zara - really thin and not v nice colours; New Look - all cropped or boyfriend style; M&S - foul colours and not much there anyway; Topshop - thin and expensive seeming for not great quality; H&M - nothing nice; Debenhams Red Herring - I bought a black jumper there!; Oasis- horrible colours; Warehouse - all chunky and wintry; Gap - nasty wishy washy colours.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Thanks for trying.

Did you look in Monsoon?teal
purple pattern orpurple plain
turq
red/cerise
red with cami

blithedance · 22/03/2009 20:59

I had a cotton elastene cardigan ages ago from Monsoon that was lovely quality and kept the shape well. Those 3/4 sleeve ones might be worth a look. Kew clothes are often good, you may find a concession buried in a John Lewis.

I've got your proportions too (well apart from the "otherwise petite" bit!) and was thinking about summer cardigans - think I'll try and get over to Monsoon this week and have a look.

Aefondkiss · 22/03/2009 21:23

any of these petite red

wallis blue

john lewis organic

Knits&productid=J8AS1&seoterm=Bright knit& great plains bright blue

mango

TrillianAstra · 22/03/2009 21:36

Can I be really rude and ask for links to any of these cardigans that have been rejected for the following reasons:
too long in arm
no room for giant norks

I have long arms and small norks, so need the opposite cardigan to the OP!

janeite · 22/03/2009 22:08

Trillian - I think you need Monsoon!

Aefondkiss · 22/03/2009 22:11
