I recentlyish bought a very plain inexpensive black dress from H&M which might work well with a little cardi you already have over the top. The whole lot doesn't nec need to be black as long is respectful. My mum wore a beautiful red scarf with birds on over a dark brown outfit to my dad's funeral as she didn't want it to be too sombre, and dd wore pink with a flower in her hair and looked beautiful (she was 5 then) - he would have liked that I think. Have to say I did wear black, dh wore navy suit and all the older relatives/guests wore black or grey. Hoep you find something suitable.
