Sorry it's me again

Did some thinking today and what would you think of tshirts with songs and nursery rhymes on them? For example a picture of:

10 green bottles on a wall with the writing 10 green bottles sitting on a wall

10 sausages in a pan with the writing 10 dat sausages sizzling in a pan

5 ducks with the writing 5 little ducks went swimming one day

A sheep with the writing Baa baa black sheep have you any wool

A star with the writing Twinkle Twinkle little star

A boat with the writing Row row row your boat gently down the stream

A bobbin with the writing wind the bobbin up

3 monkeys with the writing 3 little monkeys

A scarecrow with the writing dingle dangle scarecrow

etc, etc

or perhaps just the pictures without the writing but not sure if that would work as well?

These sound lovely! Definitely a gap in the market for this sort of thing(not that my children are the right age though sadly). I was looking today for a nice top as a present for my friend's son who has a 1st birthday coming up and would have loved something like this for him!

These are cute - not sure I'd get them for over 4s though. What ages are you aiming for?

I think some would be better without the writing (eg, the scarecrow, or 5 little ducks) but some might need it to sort of 'explain' the pic (eg the 10 green bottles). Of course it depends a lot on what the picture is like.

Personally I go for something a bit funky/retro - like maybe just a silhoette of the ducks in a bright colour on another bright background, rather than a 'busy' detailed cartoon type picture printed on, which I think can look tacky.

Again, somthing a bit different with the monkies - 3 sillouette/shadows of the monkies swinging about the top - one on the back etc...would be much more fun that just 3 in a row.

also, aplique/embroidering is always nicer than printing the picture IMO...but also more pricey obv.

nappyaddict · 22/03/2009 22:35

I was aiming for the 0-4 range.

I think they sound good for 0-4 nappyaddict.
I just saw (in a cheapie clothes catologue) boys t-shirts in plain colours, with a dinosaur printed on the front. Dinosaur was just the shape/silhouette though, and was made of camoflague pattern. Now I could do without the camo pattern tbh, but if it were stripe, or spit, or any other pattern, I would have loved it.

Astrophe · 22/03/2009 22:50

er, that 'spit' was meant to be spot!

It's a lovely idea. I'm so fed up off seeing t-shirts saying "Here Comes Trouble" or "Little Menace" or any other horrible thing they can label my child as. It would be nice to see kids wearing clothes they might like themselves, that are age appropriate.

HensMum · 24/03/2009 14:05

Love it! Especially if they were unisex and nice bright colours.
