mine were about £400 per tooth

Mine were £500 per tooth in central London

Worth every penny

mine were £500 per tooth. Not a nice process at all but worth it in my case.

I'm puzzled about veneers - why do people have them rather than, say, a brace or bleaching?
I don't think I'm really sure what they actually are.

Nontoxic,

Veneers are thin porcelain coverings that attach to the front of natural teeth. There are many reasons for using them. If you have had lots of fillings, or have had to have a damaged tooth built up, then a veneer can cover up any discolouration. Ditto if the nerve in a tooth has died and the tooth has started to go grey, to to cover up mottling.

You can use veneers to mask minor orthodontic problems, where a brace would be just too much.

My reason for veneers- a Clearstrip (Invisible brace) would cost £4.5K and need to be on for 3 years...although you can remove them for eating etc etc. You also have to commit to being able to go back to that dentist every 6 weeks.

I have 2 teeth that are misaligned/overlap and he could possibly file them down so they are smaller and then use a veneer. He could do that with all the teeth- prob 8 of them in total top row- but i don't want to lose 8 good teeth.

I had them done in 1998 and it cost around £3k for about 6 teeth, I think it is more expensive now.

I went to Dentics off Kensington High Street, they were very good.

Nontoxic, sometimes a brace just won't do or will be too expensive. Back in 1998 I was quoted £25k for orthodontic treatment there was just no way I could afford that. I would also have had to wear a head brace for 2 years, I would have far too self-conscious for that.
