I think I may have to get scrubbing and creaming up my hooves...they are bad

BarefootShirl · 19/03/2009 10:02

I do try to keep my hooves looking half decent but years of running around without shoes have taken their toll - not that I would have it any other way.

Have seen quite a few flip flops over the last couple of days - still got a few looks when I did Tesco barefoot yesterday though

brimfull · 19/03/2009 10:04

You went shopping barefoot?

Is it not freezing?
I would be wary of toes being stamped on.
Why do you not wear shoes??

it is always time to be fretting about the state of your feet. just because you are wearing socks and boots, doesnt mean you shouldnt be ensuring they dont turn into hooves.
there is nothing worse than feet that look like hooves, with cracks in th eheels. unkkempt, fungoid nails, with cracked dry skin around the cuticle areas, and painted with polish.
eurghh...
clean feet. without cracks. clean trimmed cared for toenails, without nailpolish, but healthy. that is a much much better look

brimfull · 19/03/2009 10:06

that's me told then

make a booking for me too

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 19/03/2009 10:16

Christ stichtime you have just described my feet, can you see them?

They need some serious work, and I have just ordered some flip flops.

Indiechick · 19/03/2009 10:20

Resist, it's too cold for sandals. Try the fake converse trainers from Sainsburys for £8, bargain and stylish.

BarefootShirl · 19/03/2009 12:51

ggirl - it was lovely and sunny and quite mild. Started going barefoot when I was a kid - used to drive my mother to despair (and still does sometimes ). Have always just been more comfortable without shoes and so tend to be barefoot whenever possible. Only problem now is that DD is following in my footsteps - literally!

brimfull · 19/03/2009 12:54

I do remember spending all summer (in canada) barefoot when I was growing up.It was the norm.
Only time my mum insisted on shoes was when I was riding my bike-she had a fear of me getting my feet caught in the spokes.

Ooh! A barefooter! I haven't much for a few years, but love barefooting. There is nowhere I haven't been barefoot.

It is not too cold for sandals. I wear nothing else at present. Though with socks when it's cold.

BarefootShirl · 19/03/2009 13:03

Feet have got quite resilient over the years but my mum still worries that I am going to hurt myself or step on something sharp. Have to admit I have had a few cuts and scrapes but nothing too serious .

brimfull · 19/03/2009 13:06

Do you ever get refused entry?

A bizarre question but I can imagine some people equating it with walking around naked or not properly attired

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 19/03/2009 13:08

going barefoot?

on the streets of Britain

are you a mad lady?

what about dogshit, broken glass, spoggy?

if I saw a barefoot lady in the street/supermarkt, I would kindly ask did she want to be escorted back to the care-home...

oh, and I've seen a few pairs of flipflops and I think it looks silly in March, sunshine or no sunshine

I stick by the rule, no flipflops until there is no "R" in the month (and then I live in 'em )

brimfull · 19/03/2009 13:12

R in the month???
are you in oz

OP posts:
brimfull · 19/03/2009 13:12

ah NO r in the month

BarefootShirl · 19/03/2009 13:26

ggirl - have never been refused entry anywhere in UK, although have got immune to the odd stares from store staff (and other customers)

AnyFucker - provided you look where tour walkings it's OK - how often do you have to clean dogshit off your flip flops? It's no different, just more comfortable

wastingmyeducation · 19/03/2009 13:26

Anyfucker, you'd have got a kind reply of get fucked right off. A polite enquiry would have got a civil response and an enlightening conversation for you, but it is pretty unusual so I can understand a little closed-mindedness.

wastingmyeducation · 19/03/2009 13:30

Shirl is more polite than me.

AnyFucker · 19/03/2009 17:40

well ladies, today I saw a young mum in a bra top!

one of those Nike bra top thingies, not just a midriff-skimmer, like an actual bikini!

she looked very, very silly

I saw someone in flip flops and 3/4 trousers and a vest yesterday, it was sunny but not that warm. I was wearing a pair of jeans , a tunic and a coat, so one of us was overdressed or underdressed. Today it was sunny again, I wore a very thin coat and my neighbour told me I was being a bit ambitious as the weather's changing, that confused me, as earlier I wore a heavier suede coat and it felt to hot for it. Footwear, haven't even gone there yet, still in boots mainly.

AnyFucker · 19/03/2009 18:35

it was sunny here, but chilly, no more than 12deg

I had on jeans, woolly socks, vest top, shirt and cardi

also had a scarf and woolen baker-boy cap

I don't think I was overdressed, I think the bra top was inappropriate
