My friend is thinking about having a tummy tuck either in this country or abroad. She's asked me to help her research it after years of failed exercise she's come to this decision. Has anyone got any advice or experience of this?

My sister had one in Canada - Vancouver. She looks great. But the recovery was long and painful. She paid a lot for it I think. Not something I would try and economise on!

fliberty, does she live in Canada or did she just go there for the operation?

I had a tummy tuck at the beginning of last year and I only wish I'd done it sooner! If it really is just loose skin and not fat then exercise and "miracle" firming creams will not help.

Her first port of call should be her GP and not the back pages of glossy magazines. The actual cosmetic surgery companies may have been around for 25 years but their surgeons come and go.

Her GP will be able to recommend a local surgeon whose work he will have seen before. If she's near Kent then I can happily recommend the surgeon that operated on me (After photos on profile).

Mr Brent Tanner.

what amandoh said.
but
surgery should only be resorted to as a last ditch option. the risks of infection are too high, unless, imo the alternative is life threatening, or near enough
