Help, I need a "going out" jacket!

I have a lovely outfit of trousers and ruffled top that I am going to be wearing on Saturday night. However, with the weather still being chilly at night and there being a lot of walking between pubs, I am wanting some sort of cover-up. The top is too frilly to look right with a cardi so am looking for a jacket. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I got a gorgeous one before christmas in next..cost a bit (£60) but so very cute and gorgeous. Black with beads etc. Ideal for a night out...

May be worth checking Next..or debenhams..?

I have this as well...looks lovely on. The sleeves are 3/4.

Go for a tuxedo jacket. And spend a bit if you can, it will be worth it.

Mine is from Zara and I wear it all the time; with camisole tops, over dresses, with jeans....

This is very stylish:

I do like that first one suggested too, but if your boobs are big then may not be a good look

I have tried on the jasper conran jacket and it is nice for a lightweight jacket.

I found it looked lovely buttoned, and not so lovely left open (there is some pleating that gives the jacket an odd look when open)

Sorry do not like that lime bow jacket - sorry! I think it is a bit 'mature'.

Love those first two Next ones. I'm surprised as I normally hate Next. I have got a black blazer type thing but textured fabric and bright purple lining but am lusting after a Vivienne Westwood Guitar jacket. The second Next one has definite echoes of VW methinks.

That Miss S one looks VERY 1980s! We used to borrow my grandad's suit jackets and wear them with the sleeves rolled up.

Jewelsandgems · 17/03/2009 21:01

It does janeite! Although it is a little more fitted (and oh to fashionble right now). And that's why I say 'stylish' - I do take inspiration from the catwalks, but others just want something flattering and of good quality. (and neither is better, just personal choice!)

oh great thread, lovely jackets.
i'm after something to wear ontop of this dress, what do you think i should go for?
