When you're short, fat and have small feet and can't wear ballet shoes cos you'll look idiotic can I wear these instead or are they ridiculous??

I don't know. They're a bit grannyish maybe? Something of a similar shape but minus the bow, perhaps?

I have a vested interest - you need long legs and largish feet to pull off ballet shoes, I reckon, and I have neither.

blinks · 17/03/2009 09:29

if you really are short and fat with small feet, i doubt a 1" heel will make much difference...

they're not my cup of cha but then i don't like the ballet pump thing either.

wedge heels are infinitely more flattering daaaaaahling.

I quite these wedgey ones but I don't have wide feet so I may flop out of them.

I don't want a tiny heel 2 inches would be better but I don't like thin heels anymore

Sorry they are horrible.

I am v surprised by the small feet and ballet shoes not going thing though!
I have BIG feet and cant wear flat ballet shoes as they look like boats on the end of my legs. I'd have though tiny feet would be ideal.
of small dainty feet

blinks · 17/03/2009 09:34

something like [http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=true&catal ogId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=73933&parentcategoryrn=42358&productId=1057392&langId=-1 this] would elongate your legs while still being pump-like.

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 17/03/2009 09:35

dainty feet look frankly like stumps on me (a size 3) as i'm an 18 - it looks too cutesy

like Thumbelina got fat

OP posts:
brimfull · 17/03/2009 09:36

I think ballet flats only look good on the long legged gazelle type or very slim short legs .

brimfull · 17/03/2009 09:37

are they to wear with jeans or skirts?

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 17/03/2009 09:38

jeans definitely

OP posts:
madwomanintheattic · 17/03/2009 09:40

i think it's the short and fat with small feet lol, rather than the small feet themselves

i can say that as i am similarly afflicted, and am suffering the same dilemma... i'm sort of eyeing a similarly granny looking pair but with a bit of an eco echo lol. all brown string stitching
they sound revolting, don't they? i'd have worn those in the eighties (actually i think i had a pair lol) but wouldn't now, sorry

will be watching this thread to get some ideas from those in the know though...

have they all got bows on? have i missed an important detail? i'm not sure i can do bows...

francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2009 09:41

I think the first pair is actually cute. Though they look pretty uncomfortable.
What do you want to wear them with?

francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2009 09:43

ok jeans.
Is there anything among the topshop mid heels that takes your fancy?

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 17/03/2009 09:45

that cone heel on everything is hideous

sorry to all cone heel lovers

the uppers on some of those shoes look lovely franca but the heels are so yuk

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2009 09:50

Yes, I'm also about the cone heel. I like these, but I'm sure they'd meet MN disapproval

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 17/03/2009 15:10

I have a similar problem - short and round with small feet - size 37/38.
I got a good pair of not-quite-flats from Faith a couple of years ago, they have a big button detail off to one side. I need to look for another pair though so I'll watch this thread with interest.

LastOrders · 17/03/2009 15:31

I wear these and I'm not completely gazelle like (far from it!)

They aren't as low as pumps

SenorToucan · 17/03/2009 15:33

clarks often have pumps

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 17/03/2009 15:40

franca those are truly foul... LILAC???? NOOOOOOOOOO.

.... those jazz t bar fringe ones are rather fine though.....

the cone heels are good.... not spindly, not too clumpy.... a good height... and modern. what's not to like??

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 17/03/2009 16:18

Laurie I have a friend around the same size as you and she wears shoes like this in the summer with jeans (not this cutesy tho!) and they look fine

Fimbo · 17/03/2009 16:21

I have seen the first linked M & S ones in rl and they are truly horrid - very plasticy looking.

Does it have to be a pump/ballet type shoe?

Fimbo · 17/03/2009 16:25

Fly

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 17/03/2009 18:13

LastOrders, are you mad they look like some fat Spanish guys sweaty cast offs

Libra, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too cutesie for me and I'm probably 20 years too old for that

Fimbo, the Fly ones are lovely but muchos expensive and with my weight/height combination I've got this weird feeling I'd look like a sort of Granny Van-Dahl lookalike

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 17/03/2009 20:12

I didn't mean those shoes I meant that style.

IwishIwasamermaid · 17/03/2009 20:19

I have the M&S ones in fuschia. They arrived on Monday and I quite like them, they are comfy, I can't do flat flat shoes so the heel makes them comfier.

francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2009 20:41

Lilac, are they lilac? They look grey on my screen
