What kind of bra for running?

I'm hoping to start the couch to 5km running thing, but i have rather large norks (38Fish).

What kind of upholstery is best, and can i do any damage if they are not held securely?

I'm not fit, so i doubt that i will be running fast, but according to my dh i could cause a serious accident

I'm a 36E and have a couple of good shock absorber bras. I run 4 times a week and they minimise any damage .

Definitely get a good bra.

Don't even attempt it without some kind of secure bra.

JustCallMeGoat · 16/03/2009 18:45

i want one of these v. pricey but probably worth it.

I've just bought this one by Freya and it did the job in at a very vigorous and knackering aerobics class yesterday.

It's comfy and very bounce-reducing.

JustCallMeGoat · 16/03/2009 18:50

actually that enell bra has no place in 'style and beauty'

i might run off adn start my thread in the 'enormous ugly bra' section

This one looks good, and I have alway been happy with sports bras from M&S

Thanks for your ideas.

I quite like the Shock Absorbers, i might try one of those.

If one doesn't work, i could always try two

I have worn two sports bras before, a sports bra and then a crop top style sports bra over the top. That was when I was breastfeeding though and playing netball, that was pretty painful at times!

mooseloose · 16/03/2009 22:27

i tried about 4 in Bravissimo, and bounced up and down but i moved about a lot so came out empty handed. have a shock absorber one now which feels secure but makes me bleed at the back in 2 places, and on my boob too. It has been washed so many times but still rubs but is the most secure i have found (34 g)

I run and mountain bike and have 36DD norkage, so sports bras are close to my heart in more ways than one.

I wear Shock Absorber Level 4 impact and M&S Extra High Impact sports bras.

M&S sports bra

And I always get black, as white sports bras just get yellow and sweaty!

mooseloose · 16/03/2009 22:46

i will have a look at mand s. my shock absorber is pink and purple.

I really recommend Dans-ez bras (think they only do one that's any good for running - possibly the MBB 2).

They last for ever, wash really well and don't have any diggy-in fastenings.

I have had a shock absorber from Bravissimo and it was great. I am 32F.

I now have another one from Bravissimo but can't remember the name. Both types had less stretch than a normal bra, so are not comfortable to wear for a long time. I like the ones that sit flat against your chest between the boobs - so you still have a bit of a sticky-out shape, rather than squashing the whole lot into a bit sausage.

And yes, get black.
