Hi, Im 23 and had the same hair forever due to a very big fear of the hair dressers. But now I have a home hair dresser that I have been using for 2 years and trust.

My hair is long and very very thick, I have let her put high lights in it before and she puts layers though it because it is so heavy but thats all a have ever chanaged about it.
I have a picture on my profile which I think everyone can see.

I dont want to go short-short (to scary) but I do need I a change....
Has any one got any ideas?

Thanks

You've a lovely face... What about having it cut to just below chin length? On the middle photo, some of your hair comes to half-way between your chin and shoulder and frames your face beautifully. Also perhaps consider a side fringe?

You will find that if you have a fair bit cut off - then your hair will clam down a bit, you need to find a hairdresser that will look at your hair dry, talk about what you want to achieve and your life style.

There is no point having your hair cut into a fance doo which will take 25 minutes every morning to style when you only have 5 minutes!

Look around for some styles that you like and print them off and take with you so the hair dresser has some idea of what you like, then ask the questions

will this suit me and my hair and my lifestyle?

this

or the second one down on the left on this link - as it has lots of cutting into the lenght but is a lot shorter without looking short and with lots of conditioner will be easy to keep looking good.

here

I think you need to also think about what products you can put on your hair to "tame" it, your hair looks like my Mom's, thick and wavy with a tendency to frizz.
What do you use on it at the moment?
I think a shoulder length long layered bob would look good and be easily manageable.
I would love thick hair, mine is v fine

daisychainXX · 16/03/2009 17:08

Tried every thing to carm it, spays, fizzies, serms and deep conditioning masks. The problem is that though it looks a bit in the pics it aint that dry apart from the ends, all the anit fizz thing seems to do is make it look greasy and heavy. My hair chanaged when I was in my teens and has been this thick ever since. I use VO5 at the min conditioner and shampoo

You know you only use a TINY amount of the anti-frizz stuff, don't you? if you put too much on, it'll look greasy.

I wouldn't cut it into a bob - I have hair like yours and in a bob it goes triangular! You'd have to spend ages styling it straight for that to work. I think just long, with layers round your face. I know that's uninspiring... Sorry.

daisychainXX · 17/03/2009 21:44

I follow the info on the aint fizzy but it just dont seem to do much and then after a few hours it look greasy.
Maybe I just havent found the right anti-fizzy yet. But I think will have keep looking before I can do any major change other wise it will go very trianglar other wise it could all go very wrong.

Thanks for all the advice it has given me some good ideas to think about.
Thank you
