I want some good quality, thick cotton, fitted, scoop or vee neck, short or cap sleeved tee-shirts, in nice colours.

So where do I find them?

Have you tried Boden? you should get a discount through MN too

kettlechip · 13/03/2009 13:26

Fat Face or White Stuff

mosschops30 · 13/03/2009 13:27

New Look?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 13/03/2009 15:39

Boden are stripey or not cotton, I've got lots from Fat Face quality bit shite imo, they twist in the wash and bobble, never been to White Stuff we've only just got one, will try. New Look? Good quality? Really? [snob emoticon].

Any more suggestions?

If you're blessed in that area, Bravissimo have them for bosomy girls, don't know what the quality is though.
And I've picked up a couple of printed ones in Laura Ashley, although haven't looked lately.

Ledodgy · 13/03/2009 15:46

onlyuk Only 75% cotton though.

nailpolish · 13/03/2009 15:46

next
monsoon

tattycoram · 13/03/2009 15:47

New Look are surprising good quality. I got some after DS was born two years ago and still wear them - they were a nice dark grey with a scoop neck. Muji often has nice basic t shirts but in very neutral colours which might not be what you want. Have you tried Kew?

Ledodgy · 13/03/2009 15:48

Actually there is 100% cotton ones on further pages in the basic section.

Nontoxic · 13/03/2009 15:55

I've had decent ones from La Redoute in the past - but the quality is variable; some things last for ages, others bag straight away.

Skimummy · 13/03/2009 16:03

I think Gap do quite good quality t-shirts but if you are willing to pay a bit more, Petit Bateau and American Apparel are good. If you are willing to pay even more than that...you could look at Splendid, C&C California or James Perse (online or in, for example, Selfridges). You can also get Michael Stars tops in Whistles, which are very nice.

Mintyy · 13/03/2009 16:15

Petit Bateau. Nice and long, too.

Countingthegreyhairs · 13/03/2009 16:16

ooh that's a good list SkiMummy - must try some of those

another vote for Petit Bateau although their cotton isn't quite as good quality as it has been ....

brimfull · 13/03/2009 16:20

www.harryduley.co.uk is good, someone from mnet recommended it.
I phond her up and asked for her to make me a t-shirt 4" longer than normal .She is very accommodating
Expensive but great quality and I wear it all the time, wish she did more colours though.

brimfull · 13/03/2009 16:22

actually I ordered a v-neck cap sleeved which isn't on the site

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 13/03/2009 22:53

Velvet has a fab range of cotton t-shirts. Absolutely beautiful. American Apparel would be my second choice.

RipMacWinkle · 14/03/2009 07:56

After I had my colours done, I was recommended onto a site called Kettlewell Colours. They have a fab range of different shapes and colours. Wash well too. One year on and going strong. I do prefer the cotton over the viscose though.

Actually this reminds me that I wanted to order a couple

bishboschone · 14/03/2009 07:57

tescos fairtrade t shirts were great last year..not sure if they are doing them this year but maybe look out wash well nice shape..long enough and nice colours..oh did I mention cheap

brimfull · 14/03/2009 15:02

ripmacwinkle- that site is fab. What are the sizes like? They look slightly short in the body .

RipMacWinkle · 14/03/2009 15:09

I think they vary to be honest, if you click on a particular style they'll tell you how long it is in a Medium. Some are definitely longer than others!

I'm petite (but with a normal sized body I reckon and very stumpy legs!) and some are ok for me, some a bit long - but I still can wear them. I buy a small and I would usually buy a size 8.

Don't know if this helps?

brimfull · 14/03/2009 15:20

thanks
I take it they don't shrink at that price?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 14/03/2009 15:53

Thanks guys loads of ideas, Kettlewell Colours looks like just what I am looking for. Love harryduley but don't think i can afford it.

I've not found that to be a problem.

But if it was, I guess I'd be sending them back!!

When I emailed to ask for size advice they were pretty prompt and very helpful.
