DD has a swimming lesson wednesday morning and I usually do some lengths in the main pool at the same time stopping every now and then to catch my breath/watch her swim. So then that's two of us to get showered and dressed.
Then we are back at the pool at 5.30pm for DS's lesson and DD and I fool around in the toddler pool while that is going on. The changing area is really hot. I sometimes get flustered trying to get three of us showered, dried and dressed etc and something usually ends up being dropped on the floor, the lockers aren't huge and so on.
So, I have now decided to give up trying to look trendy/decent/smart and invest in a nice tracksuit to fit the occasions. I've had a look on Sweaty Betty but nothing stands out, good old M&S haven't inspired me at all. Any suggestions please?

I'm a size 8/10 but only 5ft 2.

TIA

How about something like yoga style trousers and a top (though maybe not that one - contains cashmere - prob not the most practical) - something like this? Actually White Stuff have some nice stuff in general.

thanks Jackieno. Trouble is, there pants don't come in different leg lengths and 32 in will be so much too long for me. I know I can get them shortened but that adds another £10 to the price. I keep looking for now but definitely keep those in mind. Thank you.

have you tried NEXT?

mckenzie · 11/03/2009 21:34

I've tried my local one but not their website. Off to do that now Flier. thanks

How about Lands End (I know, not always the most glamorous, but they do petite sizes). these come in petite sizes too.

cornsilk · 11/03/2009 21:40

I bought a really nice Nike one last week.
from Littlewoods. I've tried linking it but it won't work, tho' it's nice!

AnyFucker · 11/03/2009 21:42

I only know of tracksuits you can wear on a Tuesday, sorry

mckenzie · 11/03/2009 21:49

they will do LF. I'll just change the swimming lessons to a tuesday . The Lands End yoga Pants look nice JackieNo but they don't seem to come in the shorter length.

what about a McKenzie tracksuit, I think you can wear those Mon-Fri

cornsilk · 11/03/2009 21:53

Is my nike one too chavvy then? (flounce)

Flier · 11/03/2009 21:55

Mckenzie did you try within the petites section on next?

Flier · 11/03/2009 21:58

leg lengths on link I just gave:-

Petite to fit inside leg 27½"/70cm
Regular to fit inside leg 29"/74cm
Long to fit inside leg 31"/79cm

GreenBib · 11/03/2009 22:01

nice ones in gap atm

JackieNo · 11/03/2009 22:04

Mckenzie - the first Lands End link is to the petites section of Lands End - those grey ones are petite - 28.5 in length, I think - click on the 'more info' tab by the description.

mckenzie · 11/03/2009 22:17

sorry Jackieno, me being daft. The title on the yoga pants even says Petite!! Thanks - I shall order those and see and also, thanks Flier as I hadn't seen the petite section on the Next website and I shall try those too.
Sorry Cornsilk, your Nike is certainly not too chavvy. In fact i am a big Nike fan. Trouble is I wear Nike for workout gear and I want this to feel more like relaxed going out wear.

cornsilk · 11/03/2009 22:18

That's okay then. (unflonces)

JackieNo · 11/03/2009 22:23

Ooh - have a look at Debenhams too - lots of those say 'available in shorter lengths'.

gigglewitch · 11/03/2009 22:25

is the deal done and dusted yet or still open for suggestions?
If ideas are still getting thrown in, take a look at Pineapple - also stocked in Debenhams both online and in shops they do different lengths in trousers etc in the debs concessions

mckenzie · 11/03/2009 22:27

thanks gigglewitch. perhaps a visit to debenhams is called for???

gigglewitch · 11/03/2009 22:28

might be

mckenzie · 11/03/2009 22:35

well, based on the good old WWW, Pineapple is the winner. Now all i need to decide is whether to order on line or drag myself to the shops! Any idea on how Pineapple go size wise anyone?
And thank you all so much for your help. I shall sleep better tonight knowing that by next wednesday I shall be sorted (hopefully)

erm, I pretty much live in pineapple stuff as I'm a dance teacher / PE teacher (confession) their sizes can be on the smallish side and can be a bit unpredictable from season to season Doesn't stop me loving the stuff tho You'd need to do some trying on IMHO.
