DRY SKIN: Can anyone recommend a bloody good moisturiser?

My skin has always been really dry but at the minute it seems to be the worst it has been, partly because I neglect my skin so much and moisturise probably once every two months

I really want to get my skin in good condition. I don't mind spending more than your average on a good moisturiser as long as it's flawless! The only problem I have is even though my skin is super dry, a cream that is too thick just sits on my skin. Could I be more awkward?!

I need one for my body and one for my face - any suggestions?

Ladies I have found the answer!

After my evening shower I slap on baby oil whilst wet and then towel dry.

After my morning shower I've bought some St Ives moisturiser that specifies for VERY DRY SKIN and I'm like a new woman! It cost me £3 for a big bottle from Tesco!

I'm still working on my face and hands though...

I'm glad someone mentioned Clarins. I had a couple of free samples and then spent a fortune.... I find their products sheer joy and delight. I never used to believe that expensive = better...maybe it's just a feelgood factor? But also the oh-so-delicious smells. I'm sure my skin looks more glowing too. Am I just imagining it? Am I wasting my money?

I used to have major problems with dry skin then ended up going to the Shiseido counter in one of the big stores and they did a skin analysis (where you look at the size of your pores etc - they take a very close-up photo of it). I had been using Clinique at the time and they said the problem lay in there being alcohol in the products which really dries out your skin. So I switched to the full-on Shiseido range, the 3-step procedure anyway, and it is so good. I've been using it for about 15 years now and do get complimentary comments. I mean, my skin isn't that fantastic (!) - but I use to be constantly covered in red patches of extremely dry skin - which wasn't terribly attractive. I thoroughly recommend the Shiseido range of skin care products. It is expensive - but worth it.
