I am sadly a size 18 I reckon. I wouldnt really want to spend more than £60 but maaaaaaaaayyybe could be persuaded if it was perfect!! Oh and I want it now! Am going shopping tomorrow or will order online! Am looking at this but not sure monsoon

Got any other ideas for me?

should say I prefer darker colours, or greys with soft colours.

would you really look fabulous in a maxi dress though? they are very difficult to pull off, such a lot of fabric.

compo · 06/03/2009 21:25

that's more the sort of thing I'd wear to a wedding than for pushing the buggy tbh

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:25

I dont know I have never worn one before! I just know I would feel more secure all covered up, and I want to wear a casual dress!

What about a casual knee length dress over jeans? Agree that it isn't going to be the most flattering or practical item of clothing!

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:27

yeah you are probably right! I am very out of touch with anything but jeans and a casual wrapover top! I just want a dress. A nice, casual, full length dress. I like cotton like materials. I dont want anything silk like.

fishie · 06/03/2009 21:28

leopard!

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:29

I am just sooooo sick of jeans!!! I literally live in them! Dont get me wrong I love jeans they are my staple I couldnt exist without them but I miss when I was (a size 12) wearing nice summer dresses.

grey i'd leave the belt off.

llareggub · 06/03/2009 21:31

Are you tall? I think if you are short and size 18 then the maxi dress would not be a good look. I'm an 18 and 5 foot 6 and I really couldn't pull that off. Would all that fabric be practical with a buggy?

fishie · 06/03/2009 21:31

leopard and grey but out of stock. really good shape.

Ewe · 06/03/2009 21:33

In that case, something like this

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:33

I like the grey one better! I had a fab faux fur leopard coat when I was younger I looked so hot in it. I just couldnt face anything else leopard.

So... the grey one... would I have to wear it over jeans? And if not, what would I wear it with? Bare legs? Tights? I dont own any boots.

I like wrap over styles a lot too!

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:35

I am 5' 6" too.

I have to say... am gutted to be told (honestly and kindly) I am too big for something I want to wear but thank you for saving me from a fashion no no! I was weeny before I had DS and I just dont know how to dress like this.

OP posts:
fishie · 06/03/2009 21:38

ooer no boots! maybe you should get some, or don't you like them?

i'd wear that dress with long sleeved top underneath, tights and boots.

llareggub · 06/03/2009 21:42

Well, you might look fab. You'd have to try it. I know I'd look awful, because I have a big tummy so I'd just look pregnant. Well, actually at the moment I am 30 weeks pregnant so it would probably be fine!

What sort of shape are you?

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:42

really long sleeved top underneath? tight? what colour? and tights and boots?

That whole set up even in the summer as well?

I want boots too. But I can't find the right ones. I cant afford to buy loads so can never decide if I should get black or brown. I dont want heels as DH and I are exactly the same height and I like that. And owing to the size 18 status my calves are on the large side. Cant help there too can you?

Actually, can you just sort me out? Make me over?

OP posts:
fishie · 06/03/2009 21:42

this is nice but maybe a bit too formal?

fishie · 06/03/2009 21:45

no no NOW i'd wear that. in summer i'd just wear frock. but i wouldn't wear that grey one myself i am too squat.

this is my latest purchase but i gather you have an actual waist.

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:45

Before I had DS and then got put on the meds that had weight gain as a side effect and put on many stone I was a lovely slim curvy hourglass. Now, I have huge breasts, huge hips, average waist.

Blessedly I have come off that horrible medicine and am now on another one for same condition which has weight loss as a side effect so please do keep your fingers crossed for me!!! My neurologist said over 50% of the people taking it lose weight without putting any effort into it at all!

OP posts:
hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 21:47

I really like the monsoon one actually - how would you wear that, what would you pair it with? The second one wouldnt suit me, I look better in plainer or bolder patterns than smaller floral patterns. But I like it for someone else!

OP posts:
fishie · 06/03/2009 21:53

gladiator sandals are good. not in march though hence i am still in boots.

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 22:01

if you had to choose black or brown boots which do you think you would wear?

I have to go to bed now I have a full day of shopping ahead of me

Thank you!

OP posts:
Ewe · 06/03/2009 22:06

I would go for black personally. I don't necessarily think you can't pull off a maxi dress btw I just think you would need to be careful, go for a bold one colour style or a big pattern and perhaps try some on with heels/wedges?

On the boots front you need duo boots or similar as they do made to measure boots.

fishie · 06/03/2009 22:11

brown. but i don't wear black clothes, i have red blue grey pink etc.

i love red shoes the best. how about some flat ballet types? nothing like lovely shoes to re-enliven old clothes.
