Has anyone got a Trollbead bracelet?

If so, do you wear it all the time? Has the lock ever come undone? And do you have a safety chain on it?

Mine is getting a bit valuable now, and I am paranoid about losing it, but I don't see the point in having it and not wearing it

Ikwym - I have a Pandora silver bracelet which is full and I dare not add up the value of the beads....I do not wear it at work because it gets in the way - have a job where I write a lot. I wear it quite a bit the rest of the time BUT I do have a safety chain which just looks like a couple of beads. Have to say it has never come undone or fallen off yet and the clasp is very secure so I don't fret about it. I love it and am thinking about starting another but will probably get lovelinks next time, just for a change

Mmmm maybe I should get a safety chain, just in case, collecting them is far too adictive isn't it?

Sorry to hi-jack-I'm really intrigued-what are these bracelets you speak of?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 06/03/2009 16:24

Lol don't look horribly addictive hobby.

Shield your eyes Trollbeads.

Oh No, I wish I hadn't looked, now I've bookmarked it and everything, and am thinking about Mother's Day (I think I deserve it...)

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 06/03/2009 16:34

Well I did warn you, a bracelet and maybe a bead to start you off would be a perfect mothers day gift though.

Ooh, had no idea what they were, but that looks quite pretty.
(Why trollbead though?)

SecretlyPreppy · 06/03/2009 16:38

A lot of my colleagues wear those and do competitive bead-purchasing. I think they are the most ridiculous money-making scam ever. Wish I'd thought of the concept though.

Seriously, you will look back in 10 years time and wonder what you were thinking. It's like jewelry (and I use that term loosely) by installments. At least charm bracelets might have individual meaning...

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 06/03/2009 16:46

[Grin] SecretlyPreppy, I doubt it as i have already had mine for nearly 10 years, they have been around since 1976, it's hardly a fad, And the point is, that it is a charm bracelet and the beads do have individual meaning to me.

MrsSeanBean because they are Danish and alot of the original beads were trolls, not because they are aimed at mntters.

One of my colleagues was talking to another troll lover about her latest bead (is that what you call them or are they something special like 'symbolic pierced disc of sentimental authenticity' ;). She said something like...

'ohhh, I was going to get that blue one because my first car ever was blue just like that! But then I remembered that I crashed that car and wrote it off. So then I decided to get the green one because I always wanted green eyes. Green is really special to me'

Snurk.

I think that anyone who is given a troll-thing type gift this Mothers day should hurl it back at whoever gave it to them. Demand an iron instead or a footspa.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 06/03/2009 17:01

Why does it irritate you so much? Is it because you secretly covet the pretty beads?

It's just frigging jewellerly, why does it matter why people buy or like it?

I do find the Troll marketing concept ridiculous yet hugely amusing in the urban office environment.

If I wasn't snurking at Troll beads I'd find slightly off-center silver hearts funny, platinum instead of gold wedding rings chortle worthy or maybe even those humongous gangsta-rap rope necklaces snigger worthy.

I'm an equal opportunity, laugh in the face of fashion type of girl.

Happy Friday.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 06/03/2009 17:16

Fairy 'nuff, I'm an 'each to her own' kind off girl, whatever floats your boat, is ok with me, I do not feel the need to mock.

Trolls/Pandora ? Go go's for Mummy's! I love mine and all its links. Can't bear charm braclets though!

Dorothyredboots · 06/03/2009 20:49

I also love my Pandora bracelet. I have bought the plainer beads in a selection of shapes - round, barrel, tube etc. Can't be doing with the ones shaped like things. Not an emotional item for me. I think it is a good way to get a quality bracelet over a period of time - I could not shell out for one all at once. I have had beads as gifts and bought them with any little bonus from work or suchlike. Admit that it is a good marketing strategy to get you 'in the loop' so to speak.
Also much more practical than a traditional charm bracelet - those pesky little charms get caught in all your clothes and knitwear.

scruffystevie · 01/05/2009 10:47

I got a 'Carpe Diem' Mojo to go on mine - it's like a bead from Scarlett and has writing on it. Fits my pandora bracelet perfectly!

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 01/05/2009 10:55

I was going to buy one til I saw they'd started doing them in Warren James where the beads were a fiver. It put me off a bit to think that you could just buy a whole bracelet for £50-£60 - appreciate that you all have 'special' ones though, collected over time
